Jet2 - Grounds for compensation or not?

Options
Recently returned for Tenerife following an inbound 12 hour delay.
Incoming flight arrived in good time, passengers offloaded, and 'ready to board' announcement made.
We were then told there would be a 45 min delay, which became 2 hours then 6 hours.  Flight was then cancelled, and we saw plane being towed away.
Jet2 groundstaff refused to give any details other than "unexpected technical issue".  We were provided with meal/drinks vouchers via our boarding cards which were sufficient to cover our needs. After 13 hours at Tenerife airport, we were flown to another UK airport, with onward transport provided to our home town.

We subsequently found out (unofficially) that the delay was due to an airport vehicle (baggage truck we were told) clipping the landing gear of the plane whilst it was parked at the gate. Obviously totally understand the safety issues here and the need for the plane to be taken out of service.

Have submitted a delay claim via the Jet2 website but given the background here, is there any prospect of this being successful?
I have tried to research this myself but can't find any guidance which fits this scenario.

Technical issues are normally considered the fault of the airline and not extraordinary circumstances. The ground handling agents are contracted by the airline so would normally be considered within the control of the airline.

Obviously an accident and they do happen, the airline may try and claim it was extraordinary circumstances. I’d expect most here would say it isn’t.  The regulations don’t go into much detail and unless you can find a test case ruling that covers the exact or very similar scenario it can be a long slog to make your case. But first thing is to wait and see what Jet2 say. They’re usual response recently is a waffling generic response about the industry’s many problems in 2022.
