    Glad you seem sorted.
I'm over 3 weeks now and still waiting. I'll give it a few more days but with even more postal strikes next week I'm not hopeful.
I wasn't expecting another email as they were to send 2 letters to enable online access. Do you still have wait for letters before you can access your account online?
  • my 2 letters arrived in the past 2 days, letter 1 first followed by letter 2 next day. I had to re-request them again on their log in screen. They were dated 21st oct. Took 5 mins to get the log in sorted.

Applied on the 13th, instantly emailed account number and sort code and asked to send id. Did so straight away. Sent test £1 payment.

Nothing by email or through the post, since. I can’t actually access my account until I’ve been given an online pin etc.

Just called up. After 2hrs on hold was told I needed to go into a branch to collect my online banking credentials.

    I’m sceptical.

Has anyone else in a similar situation gone into a branch and been given their online banking credentials?
From feudal serf to spender, this wonderful world of purchase power ;)

Applied for a joint esaver on 11th.  Opened with £1 and I (but not my wife) got an email to confirm it was opened.  Neither of us heard any more until last Friday 21st, when my wife got 2 letters through the door on the same day, which surprised me, to enable her to log on and start using the account.  However, as I still hadn't heard from them I telephoned them at 8am this morning when the phone lines opened and managed to get through straight away.  After explaining the situation I was asked if I still had log in details for an account that I had over 12 years ago.  I obviously didn't, and they are now sending me a new ID and password to me which should arrive within 4 working days.  The whole thing has been very frustrating and I still can't understand how my wife got her log in letters last week, and I didn't.  They couldn't give me an explanation this morning, but hopefully I will be up and running next week.

Don't waste your time. They always direct you to branch and they can't do anything. I doubt they will be able to provide you with online banking details.
  • I had no problems opening the esaver and got the letters as well within a week or so, after a branch visit. Got the email after opening that I need to send ID details. Never had an account with them before in the UK (had a product with them in another EU country a few years back). Went to the branch the next day, passport was copied and the filled out form wasn't needed, letters came shortly after. Applied the first day the esaver was advertised.

However, a few days later I thought I go for a balance transfer credit card, got the card rather quick but also got again 2 letters for login. Phoned up and been told some minor detail might be different and therefore the system opens a new account, should go to branch to get it sorted and accounts merged. Been there on Monday, turned out various things did not match, was told all corrected and merge to happen withing 48h max. Nothing happened, phoned again and the lady on the other side was helpful but seemed to have no clue to how to use their own system and said she needs to put me on hold and ask a supervisor. After further few minutes of waiting I got kicked out. Phoned again straight away, explained case againand, expressed disappointment of service and that notes should have been made so we can just pick up from there. More discrepancies were discovered and been told all is now fixed and the merge would happen over night. Again, nothing happened. Been to the branch again today just to discover that data of esaver and credit card account still not match. We corrected the remaining bits and been told it should merge over night. Lady in brach said she will phone me in the morning to follow up. So far I still can't see the credit card in my account and only the esaver and it's 00:30am now.

If not fixed by tomorrow I will move all cash to another account and they can initiate a full close down procedure. Been a HSBC customer for over 13 years now and never had a problem but this is incompetence at it's best by Santander.
  • I applied for the fixed rate ISA on 14 October and heard nothing back after the initial email acknowledgement. I phoned Santander on 21 October and they had no record of it and advised me to open another one online, which would appear instantly in my account - it didn't. I was assured someone would call me back the following Monday (they didn't) so I contacted them via online chat and they messaged back to say they'd no record of either application and there was a problem with applications starting OLA22 and suggested I contact them later in the week.
I've just phoned Santander again - they still had no record of either of my applications but I was transferred to someone who talked me through the process and opened the account for me, as well as arranging the ISA transfer from my other bank.
My ISA is now open and showing in my online account and funds should transfer in 14 days.
