hi guys, having been on here several times regarding not being able to log in to Ns&i since 2fa was brought out,
i still cannot.
i actually gave up trying last week.
resigned to using their phone banking instead , a pain .
complained too many times, they gave me £30 as an apology, but still haven’t tried to help me get into my account using safari 12 which they say they support .
today my son in law, who also banked with them , no longer does, used their app, so I downloaded it to my iPad, and logged in no problem, but, no 2 fa ?
no one on here or Ns&i I mentioned their app as a solution ??
i didn’ t know one existed till today !
does anyone else use the app, and how secure is it ?
Is it safe enough to use as I cannot get use browsers .
appreciate any advice please.
cheers

In theory, more secure than the browser as they control the interface.
They didn't know you necessarily owned an iPhone or iPad as safari is a cross platform browser (poor one though).1 -
Apart from one other, it's the last website I use with the final version of Explorer (11?). Feels like its website was designed for this era...1

They knew I used ipad , I spent ages on the phone, email, umpteen times, explaining everything.
They knew my browser, iOS ,etc.
For some reason they just couldn,t be bothered, hence the £30.
All I wanted was to login .
However, now you have reassured me about the app , I feel more content.
I don,t login often, but phone banking !!!
I would have needed to as I use their direct saver a/c, and may "need the extra safety of going over the £85k rule in the near future.
Thanks again, 👍👍0 -
As far as I can tell, without actually downloading it, all it allows you to do is view your accounts not transact.

NS&I have two apps.
One is a prize checker - where you load in any holders numbers (So you could have mum, dad, son, wife, husband etc) - and it tells you each month if any of the holders have won a prize....
The other is the full app where you can see your transactions, bond records, prize history and add money - but as far as I can see you can't withdraw money. So it appears to be secure from the perspective that you can do anything you want with it except empty the funds.1 -

According to lititure it was due to allow paying out etc, 2022 but nothing there.
No profle, so cannot change password etc.
Really not An app as such, just a viewer to accounts.bit deflated now, back to phone😱😱

Not had a need to withdraw any funds for a while but will at some point. So I tried to log on via the website, problem is the mobile phone registered with them hasn't been used by me for quite a number of years. No problem I thought, let it send the code to my home phone...my Truecall box blocked it. OK, added the number to the "Star" list and tried again. Phone doesn't ring...DECT handset has flat battery and seems that the base station charger has connector issues.
Looks like I need to dig out that old dumb phone!
Update:
Dumb phone found, OTP entered, PIN created and logged on, off and back on again without an issue. Did same for second account, same result.
Not seeing any major issue with the 2FA change to be honest.0
