Feed In Tariff - New vs Old provider transfer problems
Hi again. Quick query for people who may know this. Having moved my FIT from UW to Octopus finally earlier this year, they are still faffing about with issues. Having signed a contract with them in Jan 24, they now tell me that they want me to sign a new one as I cannot be paid for Generating and Exporting as that is two payments. Is there any truth in this? I always thought this was the point and the government incentive. If anyone has a link to the Legislation or website that clarifies this I would appreciate it. Thanks
We had something like that said by the Octopus employee I spoke with when we were trying, as Octopus customers, to move our export to them from EDF to take advantage of the 15p Outgoing Octopus. They seemed to think that we were trying to get paid twice. I think I knew more about it all than they did.
They also had no idea of the correct way to do this, so our first attempt failed. EDF also were not very clued up and declared it too difficult to separate our FIT payment and our deemed export payment. We did however get an export MPAN before it all went pear shaped. Octopus gave us £50 for getting it wrong.
In the end, to make things easier, we decided to move both our FIT and the export to Octopus and eventually were able to get the correct form to fill up to set things going. A switch date was set, but then EDF took over 2 months to action it, however, after several phone calls to Octopus it did go through and they backdated our payments to the original date.
Really should not be so difficult, but you do need to have all your paperwork in order first.
