EasyJet fail to pay agreed compensation for cancelled flight

EasyJet agreed I'm owed £520 compensation for a last-minute flight cancellation but they simply haven't paid it. I have been literally sent round in circles since June this year trying to extract it from them. Have other people experienced this and if so how did you get them to cough up what they owe, if indeed they did? After numerous emails and telephone calls to so-called customer services and resolution support staff I hit a brick wall last week and made a complaint to Aviation Dispute Resolution. It can take up to 90 days to get a decision but if EasyJet still don't pay up what then? Any advice will be gratefully received. I really shouldn't have to but I'll take it to court on a point of principle due to the despicable treatment I have received, as either their staff are totally incompetent or downright dishonest. Many people would conclude both from the detailed records I have of the phone conversations, some of which beggar belief. It's scandalous that it should require court action for a company this size to be forced to meet its legal obligations. I read in a news article that only two per cent of people eligible for delayed/cancelled flight compensation actually get it and given the practices I have encountered I can well understand why the majority give up or simply don't bother. I have variously been told that the payment was processed before it was even 'authorised', that someone "forgot to do it", that I should check with my bank (I did), that they have escalated my complaint (they obviously didn't), that the money would arrive in the next seven days (it didn't), I should give it more time (I did) and I should wait a few more days for them to investigate. The result, big fat zero. There must be an easier way, and if not I would invite someone with 'consumer clout' like Martin Lewis to raise this at a level where someone is actually listening.

Thanks for that, I have had a look and informed EasyJet I'm going down that route. I haven't had a chance to read the fine detail but do you know if you can claim the court/recovery costs back on top of the claim?0

Yes. The court will automatically add the court fee to the amount you are claiming. You need to send EJ a letter or Notice before Action and give them at least 7-14 days (being decent)If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
