Did JL add any value to the proposition or was it just a straight commission for them lending their branding to PlusNet?
Presumably the JL branding will be stripped and by default just move across to PlusNet who were who you were dealing with all the time anyway.0 -
John Lewis had a cheaper deal at the time, and I've been switching back and forth between them and Plusnet so I get deals as a "new" customer.DullGreyGuy said:Did JL add any value to the proposition or was it just a straight commission for them lending their branding to PlusNet?

Maybe they want to de-brand as it's affecting their good name ... perhaps???

Plusnet are not offering a phone service when upgrading to full fibre and are "suggesting" that if you want a phone line/keep your existing number, then they will help you move to BT (more expensive)-if you try to move elsewhere you can't keep the number.mjm3346 said:
1000s of customers still need a home line (eg mobile signal is bad/unusable) so as Openreach switch exchanges over, looks like PN are prepared to lose the customers which will result in BT declaring PN unsustainable.0 -
Doesnt your mobile support calls over wifi? Cant remember the last one I had that didntbrewerdave said:

Obviously you dont need a phone line to make phone calls these days, VOIP was a bit odd to have at home when I started using it in 2005 but many ISP now offer it and you can always go with a third party provider.0 -

My MotoG31 is the first one I've had that does!

Nope - Plusnet don't support it on their network. BUT the issue is mainly that 100s of contacts have our landline number, and to change them all over to a VOIP number would be b**ls aching!DullGreyGuy said:

WiFi calling is possible on Plusnet broadband provided the mobile phone and mobile network operator supports it, this question was asked on the Plusnet community forum , many answered saying ( for example ) I’m on Vodafone and use WiFi calling at home with my Plusnet broadband, although the subject of WiFi calling is way off topic , that is John Lewis stopping being an ISP.0

I’ve been a John Lewis Broadband customer since they started as greenbee. I think the biggest issue for many people is going to be the loss of their email address. I’ve had a lot of problems with JL so I have already set up an ISP-independent email in preparation for switching away when my contract ends. I hardly ever check my JL email now - this thread prompted me to do so, and there has been an email from them today, explaining the changes.
After all the problems with the credit card switch to Newday, it seems that JL have now found another way to annoy their customers.
