  • Good afternoon fellow money savers.  Wonder what exciting things December will bring us?   We have dental check ups and an annual boiler service and a car MOT this month, so a bit spendy,  BUT, I'm happy to report the money is all tucked away for them in the appropriate savings accounts. That would never have happened a few years ago

Started the month well with £5 flying into PP from SB. Hoping there might be more cash outs later, we'll see. I can't imagine there being many surveys over Christmas, but we can live in hope

On the debt front, November's  mortgage DD has gone out (last day of the month, but I only remembered to declare it today) and left us with a total of just £30,100. My aim is to try and get that extra £100 paid off as an over payment before the 31st Dec when the final payment for 2022 is due. I know we will start 2023 well below the £30K mark now, but would be nice to get the extra £100 paid off....my Christmas present to myself.  I'll keep you all updated.

Just listening to Cliff singing Mistletoe and Wine on Radio 2. Makes me feel very festive. Hope to get the decorations up this weekend. We don't put much up these days, but even a little bit looks good.  Who remembers the days of paper streamers all across the room and those paper bells that used to open out? Think I might be showing my age there    :disappointed:

Well, off to post the only 2 Christmas cards that we send now. Then that's me done apart from a couple of vouchers to buy online for GKs and a couple of presents to wrap. Then will get a food order done and can sit back and watch Christmas movies and do surveys for the next month.....lol.

    Have a good day everyone.

I remember my mum having the paper garlands and bells. Plus the foil strands (lametta or something like that?) that she threw randomly at the Christmas tree, they used to get everywhere!
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Oh yes, I remember the foil strands. They used to fall off everywhere

I can remember making a Yule log out of a real bit of tree at primary school. When it was in the warmth of the house it awoke several hibernating wasps. The room was full of them and my mum was horrified 😱

  • Oh my gosh. Loving all these memories. Remember the Blue Peter things  don't think they'd be allowed now. Everything's too H&S concious these days.
Yes @Blackcats I remember putting everything up with drawing pins into ceiling tiles & into the top of picture frames & door frames. Then we'd be forever having to put them back when they kept falling down...lol
