  • Afternoon followers. Hope you are all having a good weekend.  Just an update, although I don't think my diary is as interesting as a lot of people's.

On the money front, I made £15 today by selling something on FB and paid an odd £ here & there to some savings pots. So although its slow, it is all moving in the right direction . There was nothing yesterday, but its often slow on a weekend.  Anyone who does CCs surveys, notice its been very slow lately. I used to be able to cash out at least £1 a day, now I've been stuck on 68p for 2 days with no more surveys even popping up.

One thing I have noticed is that our mortgage company now updates the total more often than just the once a month that it used to. So now when I make the odd over payment here and there, I can go onto the app and see the balance coming down.....makes me feel better.  When I think at our highest, we had a mortgage of over £114K, it really looks good now.  We will be below the £30K any time soon.  We supposedly have 3 1/2 years left, but I am determined to have it paid sooner, even with the interest rate going up.  In fact if the interest rate ever starts to come down again, I think I will ask them to keep the payment at the current rate and still keep making over payments.  If only we hadn't added to the mortgage all those years ago, it would be paid by now.  But as DH says, we don't have a time machine.  What happened was we wanted/needed double glazing in our old house and added the cost to the mortgage, then moved to a bigger house a few years later and added a bit more and made the term 3 years longer. Oh dear....the silly things we do when we are young.

On the home front its been a good weekend, with lots of sorting out and getting stuff in the charity shop pile to take down in the week and some stuff on the free pages on FB.  Weather has been a bit damp and chilly, but not had the heating on much, so that's one good thing.  But think it might need cranking up a bit for an hour or so soon.

So MSE jobs for this week are to write my meal plan in a bit. Then in the week I intend to look for some good slow cooker recipes, research air fryers a bit more, finally sign up to some receipt scanning sites, and do some more surveys,

    Have a good evening everyone.

  • Several years ago I joined MSE with a different user name, but then it all went a bit wrong with losing job and other things, so I sort of fell by the wayside.  Now I have created a new profile and am starting again with more determination.  I have read so many people's diaries and can see that it helps you focus and it is great to support each other.  I think also joining as many of the challenges as possible is helpful.

A bit about me/us....we are just a couple, grown up kids married and left home.  Without wanting to give out too many personal details, OH works FT and I am not working (long story), but do have a small private pension...taken early.
We had our LBM in 2015, started a DMP with SC and then once we felt confident we went self managed. I got made redundant (twice), so we had to reduce our payments quite drastically and now pay mainly £1 a month to most of the creditors, although a bit more to 1 or 2 of them and we have had a couple of good F&F settlements and keep getting offered more that we hope to be able to take advantage of as & when we can.
Have had a bad couple of years, but hoping now with all the little bits I am doing to save money & finally making a bit extra, that we will slowly see the debts go down & the savings go up.  Think the current economic crisis was the kick I needed to get doing more again.

Not sure how often I will update, but will try & do it daily if I can. Please feel free to join in & always feel free to tell me if you think I am wrong about something or give me a kick up the backside.....lol.  I am open to healthy discussion & debate.
Just starting to read your diary after seeing you on the 10 pound a day challenge for November. Good luck x

  •  As for the surveys, I only started at the beginning of Sept with them, after having some rubbish experiences with some rubbish ones years ago.  As you say, Prolific is brilliant.
I use prolific here in Canada and it seems to be the best one - not as many instances of being screened out after answering half the survey questions. Pinecone seems a bit hit and miss and not too many surveys from them at the moment.
I am not sure if we have a receipt scanner site but am going to check that out.
    Thanks
  • Welcome @threepenny_bit. Nice to have followers from other countries.
