Iceland is 10% off on a Tuesday for the over sixties, the one near where I work is busy at eight when it opens.  However depending on what you want it does seem expensive, certainly for things like fruit and vegetables.

Yes you do have to be picky what you buy there. I've not bought from there for a while TBH. It would only be stuff for the freezer, but having seen the weather forecast for tomorrow, I might give it a miss now....lol.  I always get my fruit & veg from the market, so much better quality and a lot cheaper actually. I sometimes get a few bits in Aldi, but only the stuff that's not wrapped in plastic. I refuse to buy any fruit & veg in plastic.

  • Well didn't quite make my target but I am determined to smash it in November. As well as the PADs towards debt I've made this month, I also put some in various savings pots, & some towards a having the boiler serviced. So quite pleased with myself really & its amazing how motivated this site makes you.

  • I think you're doing amazingly well on all fronts including the PAD's and making £5 a day! 🙌

I don't do surveys etc but you have inspired me to start looking at the possibility - I have the time now so it seems silly not to if I can make a bit of extra cash!

That was my thinking. I'm not working now, so got time to give them a go. Good luck

  • Well, yesterday was a pretty pants day on the money making front....nothing at all for me, and I didn't make any daily PADs.  But it is a weekend, so I know its always slower on the survey front and I haven't sold any more bits on FB MP recently.  I still have money waiting to be approved on P/ifc and building up the points on other sites. I probably could have got up to a £1 on CCs and cashed out, but got to 68p and couldn't be bothered to do another one as the first one had numbed my brain.... :D

On the plus side, it was a NSD, apart from £6, for a small present for my best friend for Christmas.  Apart from the GKs, she is the only person I buy for these days, as she is my soul mate and gets me through the bad times.   Not even DS or DD get anything now.  Maybe I'm getting grumpy in my old age, but it does all seem a waste of time & money, especially this year when everybody's energy bills & mortgage & food bills etc are all going up.  My family don't need presents to show them I love & care about them.  I started very late on the Christmas '22 saving challenge, so am going to put that money with some from my private pension this month and get it all sorted and then I'm starting on Christmas '23 savings, only this time I am doing it for Christmas & Birthdays, which means the total might go up & down a bit throughout the year.

Everything else is coming along tickety boo, and I am finding I am getting so obsessed with paying off debt & saving little bits here & there. Don't know why I ever thought spending a lot of money was a good thing.  I desperately need a new jumper for the winter...so where do I look first??  Charity shops & Eb/y of course.  Anybody used Vinted? Is it any good? Rad a few negative things about it, so wasn't sure whether it is worth it or not.

Trying to find a nice diary/planner/organiser for next year but don't want to spend a lot and most of the good ones seem to have plastic covers and I am a bit anti that as it means it will go to landfill and I am passionate about NOT sending stuff to landfill unless I have to. Want something with plenty of space in the back for various notes and accounts etc but also a proper diary at the front with room for To Do lists. You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find one.... :D

So my goals for this week are to make at least £5 a day, make at least 1 PAD a day,  catch up a bit more on walking & exercise routines and prepare for next weekend as we are going away for a couple of days...cheap as chips and paid for with birthday money & earnings from selling stuff. So hoping for dry days to walk and no rain.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and thanks for reading.  Who will leave Strictly this week??

I find Iceland pretty cheap on Tuesdays (creaky joint day!). Felix cat food  £3.34, £4.75 in Norrisons (my local).  Fruit is cheap but only if you buy loads! Who really wants 12 apples at once? OK Maybe families do but here's just me and the =^..^= and he doesn'st eat them. Fussy little git!

Yes, I don't want to have to buy fruit in plastic bags, let alone 12 apples at a time. And its never so fresh in a supermarket, so its a false economy as they don't last as long I think. I really must go one Tuesday though as "creaky joints " is very apt for me....lol
