  • Very nice saving there on the present! I'm sure you can pick up a box for a £1 or so and he will enjoy it.

I'm already loving Strictly this year, the quality of the dancing just gets better and better each season! I'm astounded by some of the dances so far. It's one of my favourite programmes and I think it's my OH guilty secret pleasure too, he is always commenting on footwork :D

Just kicking in my experience of credit cards after debt. We have one each, both chosen because they give loyalty points which accumulate into vouchers for 2 shops we regularly use.
We don't carry ANY debt on these cards. They are paid off in full every month. I make payments quite regularly as am.often transferring money across from relevant Savings Pots & think I may as well pay it straight to whichever card we used.
Mr F's card is always used for petrol, some grocery shopping & other planned expenditure.....big purchases like car servicing, tyres, holiday bookings etc, give the loyalty points a boost. I use mine for planned expenditure, esp presents, as well as items bought from my Personal Spends.
I don't find it takes a lot of discipline. Yes, I've been a silly sod with money in the past, as has Mr F, but that's a long way behind us now & we won't go that way again. If we can't pay for whatever it is from our own existing funds, then we can't afford it, it's as simple as that!
    Enjoy your time away.

Another here who uses a credit card for the points.  I use YNAB so the money I spend gets taken off each of my budgets (pots) but stays in my current account which earns interest.  Not much point in paying it off until it needs paying as I'd lose that bit of interest!  Still gets paid off in full just before the due date by DD.

  • Another cc for points . Love the boost it gives when we pay for our holidays which we hav3 been able to do since they had to stop putting on a surcharge for paying by cc and I like extra assurance I get by using a cc. Also paying the annual house and car insurance feels less of a pain if I am getting points back for it.
@joedenise took me an age to work out how to do the accounting properly in YNAB for cc I think I watched the video 6 times

  • Oh no! That’s such bad luck, I hope it’s feeling better soon and that it heals quickly. Xx
