  • That's very true @EssexHebridean, your comment about it being the soap that cleans it. And yet we were always brought up to think that very hot water was the answer. Strange isn't it?
Yes! Yet as soon as you think it through, you'd never wash your hands under water hot enough to actually kill the germs, would you! At least we did learn some useful stuff from Covid anyway!

  • So VM have messaged DH and said that they are putting up our price 6 months into an 18 month contract!!  Don't think so. He is ringing them later and I've told him to make sure he gets it sorted on the phone as not doing any of this silly Whatsapp messaging and online chats.  Also the amount they want to put it up is 24%...think that's a bit OTT.

Warn him that when he gets through he might find an automated message offering £6 off - but to ignore that and just go through the process. Mum encountered that, and ended up getting them to do her a new 18 month contract at just £1 a month more than she's been paying.

He didn't get the message. He got put through to the leaving line, as always happens every year when they say they are putting the price up. But this is the first time we have ever had it go up after only 6mnths of a 18 month contract. Anyway, we've ended up with a £9 discount for next 2 months, and then back to what we are currently paying (£37), for the next year. So pretty good result really.

Not bad at all then - that's interesting about the message though - Mum said that she had just assumed it was a standard one being played to everyone while they were on hold in the hope that they would take the offer. It sounds like it might be being targeted only to those they think they're most likely to fool into it, then - cynical!

Its really bad that they think some people are more likely to just accept it. I imagine they think it will be the elderly people. My dad had a problem with his energy supplier, he was about £450 in credit and they wrote to say they were putting his DD up. He just accepted the fact that this would happen, until my sister said no and rang them and actually got his current DD down even further.  Its so wrong that the elderly get targeted like this.
With regard to VM though, I did read that 85% of customers manage to get a better deal by ringing up.

Well done with VM. The only reason I deal with them by What’s App was because it was the weekend and I didn’t want to be in a queue for ages on my mobile, we don’t have a landline. I was still pleased with the outcome though.

Yes, you got a good deal. DH didn't have to sit in a queue long, got through in a few minutes. Our landline phones have rubbish batteries and he told the guy his battery may cut out, so they called him back on his mobile.

Hi everybody. Sorry I have been AWOL for a few days, due to family problems.  DGS4 got taken to hospital and we've all been a bit worried and having to look after the other GK's a bit as well, so all these other things took back seat. Pleased to report that he is on the mend now and things are slowly getting back to normal, although I don't think my granny duties are over yet until about the end of the week probably.
So because of all that, I haven't really been doing the surveys. Didn't do a P/fc on since Thursday and just got one now for 45p!  Well, every little helps. Got £1.45 sat in Q/me pot and will add to that later hopefully and then have a quick look at all the others and see what's around.

Have sent some money to the 1p a day challenge today and also the Christmas/Birthday pot. Got to check up on other things and see what else I can do.
Not got off the starting blocks yet with NSD, mainly due to buying cakes and sweets for GK's and then messing up last weeks grocery budget and having to buy a few bits at the weekend I had forgotten. So will sort all that out as well.

Waiting for the weather to improve so I can start tidying the garden and getting stuff planted. Can't wait for a trip to the garden centre. Got so many ideas and also a few ideas to do things to the house that hopefully won't cost much.  Going to browse the local selling groups on FB this afternoon as well as the Freebie groups.  Also looking forward to the car boot sale that starts in our area at the end of March. Its always a fantastic one and as the season foes on, it gets bigger and bigger. Its a real Sunday morning trip out and can easily do a few 1000 steps round there....avoiding the sheep poo on the way....lol.  In the week its a sheep field and then on Sunday the farmer moves them to another field to hold the car boot.

Also found 2 or 3 bits to try on Vinted, as @LittleMissDetermined seems to have success on there. Not tried it before, so will give it a go and report back.

Off to read up on all your diaries that I have missed the last few days.  Its good to be back.  Thanks for reading as always. Have a good afternoon. x
