I received a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) for stopping for less than 30secs to pick-up my wife on Joseph Ray Road, Leytonstone, London E11. There are criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road on the part where I stopped for less than 30secs. However, it is NOT a "Yellow box junction" as it is not a junction and there are no other roads interconnecting there. I ignored both PCN's and did not appeal and now I've received a letter from a debt recovery company "Trace Debt Recovery". Demanding payment of £170 with the following options:
Option 1: Pay now
Option 2: Let us help you - with a payment option.
Option 3: Ignore this reminder - Result = face the risk of escalation through our clients solicitor....
(I've attached a scan of the letter)

A lot has gone on recently with my mother passing away after fighting cancer for the past 5 years. And now my father has also been diagnosed with cancer. So I have not really been able to deal with this PCN.

The date of this letter is 7th October and I have 14 days to make the payment, which is 21st October.

Now I don't know what to do, do I ignore this letter or do I just pay the £170?

I really hope someone can help please.

Take that letter down NOW! You are showing far too much personal information on a forum that parking companies monitor.

Debt collectors are powerless and can safely be ignored. The fourth post of the NEWBIES Announcement tells you this.

The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.

Yep, ignoring a PCN (at first) was incorrect but ignoring Trace is absolutely right.  SO IGNORE!

But keep all letters in case you get a claim.

Nothing to be scared of and it won't happen at this 'nothing' stage.  Only when a solicitor sends a LBC (which is what you want! Court is when you will win this, probably next year).  Scam over.

What you describe is easy to defend if you get a court claim from solicitors.  A scam, predatory PCN that PCM are infamous for, over the years:

    http://parking-prankster.blogspot.com/2017/01/pcm-uk-lose-case-on-heath-parade-scam.html?m=1

(The Judge) "dissected PCM UK's evidence, showing they had proved nothing - just a car with Mr X inside for 2 minutes and 14 seconds. There was no time noted when Mr X came into the bay and no time when he left and that 2 mins 14 sec was not enough time to read signs as the driver was still in the car.

He stated that as Mr X hadn't been given the opportunity to read the terms at the site there is no claim here and dismissed the case.  Everything was over and done with in 10 minutes."

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Another letter received now threatening escalation to the solicitors. My concern is the part where they have mentioned "No engagement by me"

Template letter from a debt collection agency. Ignore it, they are not solicitors. Do not ignore a solicitor's letter, come back if you receive one.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • I received a letter from Moorside legal in September this year.
This refers to an incident that happened on the 23/12/2021 can you believe.
Now after reading your post about Joseph Ray road e11, i ignored it. Your post said to wait until you receive a letter from a solicitor then act upon it.
Today i received a letter and a document from HM Courts & Tribunals service.
    What should i do?

    @Selby5804, welcome.

What you should do is start your own thread. Continuing on this thread will only lead to confusion.

In that new thread please tell us what 'document' you have received.
If it's a Claim Form, then please tell us the Issue Date on it.
