British Airways expenses delay

Hi all, I travelled to Switzerland with my daughter in July 22. The day we arrived BA cancelled our flights back home. They offered us alternative dates which we had no choice but to take. Unfortunately this meant us having to stay longer in Switzerland which added to our expenses. I made a claim for these additional expenses on 24 July and have heard nothing other than that day when I got my reference number. 12 weeks and waiting, you can’t speak to this particular department within BA seemingly. It is a long time to wait for several hundred pounds! Anyone waiting this long or longer, any advice as to how long the queue is or what else I can do?

If you can't call anyone and there is no other way to get contact then you have 2 choices:1. Go to CEDR. This will take forever too but at least you have a dashboard to log onto,2. Submit a claim to small claims court using MCOL. You will have to pay a fee, which you include in your claim. BA have 2-4 weeks to reply to court and submit a defence or pay up.For future reference, if a similar occurrence happens, you can book and pay for alternative flights with a different airline and BA would be responsible for the re-routing costs. Was it more than 14 days from the date BA cancelled your flights to the actual date of the return flight. If NOT then you may also be due compensation for the cancellation. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Thanks for your reply, I have applied for compensation too as return flight was only cancelled 4 days before we were due to fly back, they will likely turn it down on it being Heathrow’s fault not theirs.0
