I got a Sainsburys CC, just for the nectar points offer - 8000 points if you spend £400 in the 1st two months after opening. I've looked through the t&c, in particular:
2. You’ll get 8,000 points if you use your card to spend a total of £400 or more at Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat or Tu Clothing during the 2 months after your account is opened.
6. Spend at Argos eBay stores, Argos Clearance stores, Argos For Business, Argos Spares, Argos Financial Services, Sainsbury’s Bank, Sainsbury’s Energy, Sainsbury’s Cafes, Sainsbury’s e-Gift Cards and any other Sainsbury’s services is excluded.
From these point I cant determine if spend on petrol at Sainsburys will count.
Can anyone confirm?

Yes
i used to use sainsburys petrol station next to my local sainsburys.
Avoid the now as treble points ends in a few weeks and i can buy petrol 13p a litre cheaper at Costco0 -
I'm doing the same Sainsbury's offer with that card.
According to their CS petrol & diesel do qualify for the 8000 nectar points offer.

Amex gold card would work out better if you are a high spender.
Until 8th November if you spend £3000 in first 3 months on your card you get 30000 bonus points (usually 20000)
So with the point per £ spend you could transfer the 3000 points plus bonus 30000 unto Avios at point for point.
Swop these to nectar when you link Avios to nectar for 52800 nectar points.
You can also get an additional 2000 points if you get an AMEX cardholder to refer you.
Just be aware you must clear your balance every month as interest rates are high and cancel the card before end of year 1 unless you want to pay the annual fee to keep the card (£160).
you do get 4 free lounge passes each year, useful when you travel overseas0 -
Sainsbury's nectar offer gives a return of 10% on a £400 spend.
Amex gold card is 8.8% return on a £3k spend (9.13% with referrer's bonus)
Optimum would be to participate in both schemes if you're a high spender.

Was looking at this, although as balance transfer card and it says:
"Spend at Argos, Habitat, Sainsbury’s petrol stations (including non-fuel purchases), Sainsbury's Bank (including travel money), Sainsbury’s Energy, Sainsbury’s Cafés, Sainsbury’s e-Gift Cards and any other Sainsbury's services is excluded."
So check T&C's carefully before you apply.0 -

IMO the 8000 nectar points is the better deal (needing an additional £50 spend within the first two months but also includes fuel purchases).

Hi,
My wife has taken out a Sainsbury Credit Card and met the conditions at 1. and 2. below. Can anyone confirm how the "end of the offer period" is defined at condition 3.? Does this mean points will be added within 60 days of the date that the £400 spend is made?
"8,000 bonus Nectar points conditions
1. This offer is only available when you take out a new Sainsbury’s Bank Nectar Credit Card.
2. You’ll get 8,000 points if you use your card to spend a total of £400 or more at Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat or Tu Clothing during the 2 months after your account is opened.
3. Points will be added to your Nectar account within 60 days of the end of the offer period."

No, I would take it to mean when their actual offer period ends. Like the one in this link (which offers 10,000 points and ends tomorrow)

Yep, I see what you mean. Unfortunately, can find no mention of the closing date for the offer my wife used! Thanks0
