Pixel 6a Camera Problem

I've just got a new Pixel 6a and everything is fine apart from the camera.  It freezes after 3 or 4 seconds and then after a short while crashes the phone.  This still happens in safe mode.

I've cleared the phone cache and I think all of the updates have applied OK - Android 13 and the latest update is dated 5th October. 

Has anybody any ideas on what I could try please?

Thanks, I've tried that and the same symptoms are still there.  Any ideas of what I could try now?

You might have to get in touch with Google as by sounds of it could be a hardware issue

Thanks both.  I bought it from John Lewis and they have agreed to exchange it, so hopefully second time lucky!

I appreciate your advice and reassurance that I hadn't missed anything obvious.

Thought I'd come back to say that John Lewis couldn't be faulted for their service.  I got through quickly to their technical people and there was no quibble organising a replacement.   I picked up the new phone yesterday and returned the faulty one.

This one seems to be working fine and is an impressive phone for the price.
