Tesco Bank - Credit Card Harassment

I never pay minimal unless its an oversight. To me low payments at the very least is £20-30 over min payments level. So take a little of the highest paid card and put it on tesco, dont know if will shut them up though.0

I am also in a similar position.
I have been paying off higher rate cards first and then paying the Tesco credit card at between 10%-15% more than the minimum repayment each month which equates to some £85.
The last few months I have been persistently getting these threatening annoying letters wanting me to pay more. This week Tesco wrote stating that they want me to choose a payment plan and that they intend to suspend my card next month. I'm not at all happy as I have never missed or been late with my payments and have always paid the at least 10% more than the minimum payment each month.
The crazy thing about their letter is that one of the repayment options they are prepared to accept is £75 per month which is £10 less then I currently pay them and I was intending to increase the payment amounts over the next few months anyway.
In 6 months I start getting my pension of around £10,000 a year (depending on the government increase?) so I was going to pay even more. I won't be doing this now. I'll pay off other cards first and just keep paying them a little more than I have been. Tesco actually suspending my card after me always paying them what was contracted to is the final straw!0 -
Possibly one of the suggested payment plans will be to pay a set amount each month. So assuming you're not actually using the card at all your minimum payment would be reducing each month. So if it has, for instance, been £49, £48, £47 over the last 3 months then I would suggest setting your minimum DD to be paid as, perhaps, £45. Phone them up and explain that this is what you are doing so in a couple of months you will be paying a consistent amount, a bit more than the minimum with each successive month and they should get off your back.
I've had this a couple of times with cards where I've done a 0% balance transfer and am letting that be paid down by the minimum but have now reached a point when I've set a set amount to held clear these a little faster as the end of the 0% period approaches.

I'd def be ringing Tesco and tell them that you are getting a big increase in "salary" in a few months and will be clearing the card when that happens. That should make them back off. Well that and pointing out that you're paying more than what they have actually asked for. I had an issue with my mortgage provider who was getting fussy about how quickly I was paying this off (flexi mortgage - just like having a huge overdraft) and they backed off completely when I pointed out my age and when my pensions would be kicking in.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
