Just an update by way of thanks for the input. I borrowed a ‘multi tool’ which ended up being a godsend as it wasn’t too heavy and did the job. Admittedly it wasn’t perfect in some places but I’ve used that stick on sealant stuff which has covered where needed. Now I have a clean, fresh, pantry with wipeable shelves.5

Thats got me thinking.
I used to have a big pantry and really miss it now I've downsized.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

When my son was a teenager he bought one of those chrome stands that you have in your photo to use for the TV in his bedroom, when he left home he didn't want to take it so it has been repurposed as staging in my greenhouse - no more rotting wooden staging!1
