Easyjet Flight cancellation

Options
I had my flight for 12th June  cancelled by EasyJet on 1st June by email. I rebooked flights with another operator and the requested a refund and compensation. zia received my refund quickly but i am still fighting for the compensation . Our friends who were on the same flight received their compensation almost straight away. They are saying that they cancelled my flight on 31st !ay so they don’t have to pay. several telephone conversations and claims, sending them the evidence. They basically called me a liar and told me to go to the aviation ADR., I did this in September. It is now October and they have not admitted liability but offered me the compensation amount for the cancellation of flights. I requested more as i have had charges added to my credit card and it’s taken me all this time to get back what i was rightfully due.
Should I accept their offer or reject it? If i reject it will I loose the amount they have already offered?
Any help would be gratefully receive as I am at my wits end.

It's unclear why you'd incur credit card charges as a result of a delayed compensation payment?  What specifically are you hoping to claim for other than the fixed compensation figure specified in the regulations?
  • I had to pay out double the money for the flights to come home, I was relying on the compensation to pay off some of this on my credit card. I have spent hours and hours on the phone and computer filing claims and trying to find out why the wouldn’t pay the compensation. I feel aggrieved that they did not believe me, even when i sent the evidence, they have basically called me a liar for 5 months.  I would like compensation for the time it has taken fir them to actually pay what’s owed, or am i being stupid.

When EasyJet cancelled your flight, they were obliged to offer you a choice between a refund or rerouting (i.e. them arranging replacement flights), so if the replacement flights were more expensive than the originals then you should have claimed for those if you had to buy them yourself, as an entirely separate claim from compensation, which would also be due.  However, if you only sought (and obtained) a refund of your original flight cost then chances are they won't now fork out for the incremental costs of the replacement one - this will be why they refunded quickly....

That doesn't affect your compensation claim though, so you're still entitled to that, but if you're hoping for extra compensation for time spent, etc, then personally I think that's ambitious, so if they're belatedly offering you the fixed amount specified in the regulations then I suspect it's unlikely that they'd improve on that.
