Barclays Blue Rewards: A very quick question

Yep you only need DDs for the Club to get interest - and the that's limited to 0.78% on £5k ... so as there are loads more interest available elsewhere, you don't need Club DDs - still need to cycle £1500 through to avoid the £3 pm fee though.gary1312 said:
I do have a Club account but only for the free copy of Mojo magazine each month so thankfully don't need DDs for that. Moneybox and Plum will now cover RBS & NatWest between them and all my actual bill DDs can be kept with my main current account provider. I did used to use two for Barclays but not since they altered, well, removed, the cashback.myth123 said:
Yes, much easier. Especially now that there are fewer savings accounts taking Direct Debits. Some require two different mandates e.g. Lloyds Club.gary1312 said:
Thanks for the reply, it will make running those accounts 50% easier from now on! Maybe I was being dim, but it had never occurred to me that the same one twice would do.myth123 said:The same mandate can be used for the Natwest and RBS accounts0 -
*nods* I've always had enough savings options elsewhere to not bother with the Club interest. The only reason I hold the account is it has magazines I do actually buy on the perks list. MOJO costs a fiver so it's a good perk for me.soulsaver said:

This is just for information and to credit Barclays for applying their rules favourably for me.
I opened a current account in October and set up Blue Rewards. Unfortunately my first Direct Debits were not going out until November so I knew my first £5 fee on 2nd Nov would not be offset by the £5 DD reward.
The first DD was taken on 1st Nov and the second was due out on 30 Nov. However, the second was not taken until 1st Dec so I thought that I hadn’t fulfilled the two DD criteria.
As expected the fee was taken on 2nd Dec but I was pleased to see that the £5 reward was in fact paid on 2nd Dec.
Perhaps the 2nd of the month fee date is to allow a day’s grace. It will be interesting to see what happens next month with the new year bank holidays.1 -
Whereas I have the opposite issue - applied for the account but heard nothing back. Logged in a few weeks later to discover BR on and fee taken, before I had had the chance to setup the DDs.RG2015 said:This is just for information and to credit Barclays for applying their rules favourably for me.

This doesn't sound right. BR gets switched on (or off) instantly at your request. You can also set up the DDs before your request BR.dcs34 said:

I tried to turn it on but got a technical error message. Nothing showing on the online banking so I tried a few times, but still no change. So assume it hadn't worked and wrote to them about the issue.Band7 said:

sounds like you should raise a formal complaint if you haven't already done sodcs34 said:

Yep - and no response - so further escalation via the Resolver tool.Band7 said:
