Shell Broadband - 3 month credit

Options
I'm currently paying over the odds for my Virgin Media broadband so keen to switch.

The Shell Broadband deal highlighted on MSE looks attractive to me - 23.99 per month with a three month bill credit and 115 quid amazon voucher.  I clicked through to investigate and can see mention of the amazon voucher but nothing of the three month bill credit.  Has anyone gone through this already and can put my mind at rest that the credit will get applied?

It says I'll need an engineer visit to sort out the line [presume because I'm currently with Virgin] and they are providing this free of charge which is good.
If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...

May want to read the forum re: Shell, bearing in mind you will usually see more complaints than compliments about any provider.

Shell, like all BT line providers, use BT line to deliver their services so if you don't have a line at all it will to be physically installed.  If its already there it may just be software disconnected from the exchange so can be done remotely without a need for somebody to visit.

Openreach not BT, wouldn't want people contacting BT who have no control over other providers

Hi - thanks for replies.  I have a BT line, it was just disconnected I assume at the point Virgin took over a couple of years ago.

I'm also a previous Shell Broadband customer - don't recall them being any worse than any other I've had over the years (Plusnet, O2, Sky).  But I'll have a read to go in with my eyes open.

Main thrust of my query was around the three month credit - is anyone able to help with that?

  • I signed up after seeing a similar offer on MSE last year. I was also slightly wary at first but can confirm the credit was applied correctly each month.  I have literally just got off the phone to Shell to cancel as my contract was coming to an end and it would have cost £38.18 out of contract, however they offered me a better deal and I've just saved £358!! Total call time was 11 minutes - no haggling required, they simply offered me a better deal. Much easier to deal with than Sky, from my experience...
