Right to reject a car from Arnold clark

The OP may find the attached links useful in understanding the Short Term Right to Reject:
https://www.themotorombudsman.org/knowledge-base/what-are-a-consumers-legal-rights-when-buying-a-car#:~:text=Under the Consumer Rights Act,date you brought your car.

No deduction can be made for use etc under the STRtR, but not every fault is grounds to reject, the fault has to be significant so making the car unsatisfactory quality, not fit for purpose or not as described.
The OP describes a faulty clock and the remaining range not decreasing.
A faulty clock very probably does not count as a significant fault / unsatisfactory quality.
The range guessometer may not drop until there has been a good proportion of the tank used up, especially if the tank was full to the brim first as this often goes above the extent of the guessometer.
These definitions (significant fault / unsatisfactory quality / not fit for purpose / not as described) can be subjective and vary depending on the age of the car being purchased. If you buy a pre-reg car with 10 miles done, then the clock (in fact, everything) should work. If the car is five years and 50k miles old, then a faulty clock is less significant.

Hi thank you for your reply mate. Yes the car is 4 years old. I currently work nights I have video of the clocks lightening going on&off. It’s dangerous to drive especially on the night. The milage range is still on 460 miles after a week of driving. I’ve roughly done 70/80miles.
i got it booked it for repair but these things are silly happening. I never thought about that it taking a while. I appreciate your help mate.Fingers cross Arnold clark take responsibility and take the car back. As I’ve read some stories about them being funny with it.0 -

The "range remaining" is largely a guess rather than an exact calculation by the car. It certainly is only a guide and not to be relied on.
I used to have a 70 mile each way commute and it was not unusual if I filled up that the range was the same at destination as at departure. If I filled up following the weekend, range at destination would be higher than range at departure.1 -
No mate they don’t flash they just come on and off when they like it’s the lighting around the speedo clocks. It’s dangerous when driving on a night.
I appreciate your advice learnt something new. Like you said I’ll just have to convince Arnold clark it’s dangerous and not fit for purpose.I should be able to return the car after 30 days.0 -
Right ... clocks as in instrument binnacle, not time of day clock.Jenni x1
