Please can someone make sense of this British Gas statement
Hi
New Link: I’m trying to help a family member with this statement from British Gas. Please can anyone explain it especially as they haven’t been at the property since July 22

Thanks. I’ve just posted a new link ending “Sm9” and successfully tested it from a third party device? Readings were provided on October 1st.frugalmacdugal said:Hi,link not working, is it to do with an estimated bill, if so supply up to date readings.Any information given in my posts or replies is intended to be of interest and/or help to members of the forum. First how did you post an image directly from Google photos into your post?Second: I’ve just asked for that and also for the user to query what the adjustments are with BG
Under what circumstances could adjustments come to such a large figure please?Any information given in my posts or replies is intended to be of interest and/or help to members of the forum. I cannot guarantee that this is accurate or up to date.0 -
You're usage so far is £214.13.
You're estimated usage in costs to this time next year is £1366.92.
You've paid £373.92
Balance left £1207.43
So basically you need to pay £100 a minute nth to have a balance of around £373 this time next year.
But you're estimated usage maybe more or less than this, so you may need to adjust you're direct debit up or down accordingly.
The only way you'll know for sure is take monthly readings consistently.

That's only the first page of it - I think the second page might have salient information on it too.
I have just got one very similar and it's incredibly confusing. They've moved me on to their new system and the transfer appears to take the form of closing the old account down and opening a new one and making an adjustment to move my credit from the old account to the new one. But somewhere in mine, they cancelled a bill, created a new one from an estimate for the same date I gave them a proper one and losing about 6 quid from the calculations, which is seemingly lost in the ether.
I can't just understand the numbers on this one though (I bet there are adjustments on page 2) and why they've got it if they no longer have the property - but it is the same format as the one I have for moving to their new system.

Thanks for that, being really thick and rather unwell at the moment, surely the £1207.43 isn’t the balance at 8th Oct 22 then but estimated balance at 8th Oct 23? This family member is worried they currently are going to have this amount taken from their account now as well as the regular DD payments.Coffeekup said:You're usage so far is £214.13.

Credits made (DDs paid or manual payments) = £373.62 - minus fuel used of £214.13 (inc VAT) = £159.49 credit.
Add that to the 'new balance' of £1207.43 and it makes the adjustment amount of £1366.92. In my own case, the adjustment on page 2 (which we haven't seen) is the credit that was applied to my new version of the BG account.
