Colour cartridges are about £75-80 each inc vat and the black one is about £60. Colour lasers aren't cheap to run

It looks like the 2550L is discontinued as detailed on the HP web site. Additionally, the resolution is quite low at 600dpi.

600dpi is ample on a colour laserjet though...
Have you seen the quality they chuck out? (We have quite a few HP 4500/4600's at work and the quality is VERY good on plain paper, photo paper is even better!!)
    So,don't let 600dpi put you off!! :)

This is a nice but slow printer. We have one at work, and when you send a print job, it kind of turns over itself for about 25 seconds, probably just priming the print heads or something, before grabbing the paper and printing. Once it does print though it's probably at about 5 or 6 seconds from grab to spit out... Its just the damn time spent "priming" and it seems to do it on every page of a print job!

Seems good value though - print quality is good.... Once its spat it out lol. I can't remember what my work paid for it though.

edit: One very good thing I know of is the feeder tray holds LOADS of A4. Not like some which can only fit in about 50 or 60 sheets at a time.
    Money saving:
Buy a Skoda. Laugh at the VWs who paid several grand more
Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish

Thanks for this. I've fancied one for ages.

I think the paper tray with this one is the standard 125 sheet capasity, the larger one seems to be an additional extra.
  • Personally I recommend staying well clear of Misco. They have the WORST customer service in the history of the universe.

Yesterday, I had to return an item to one of their warehouse/outlets. The item had been in my possession for about 18 days and I had only just got round to trying it out, only to find that it didn't perform to its specification - presumably through fault.

So.. the nice lady (where's the sarcasm smiley??) at the customer service desk took my receipt and asked for the reason for the return, which I explained. She then explained that as 14 days had passed, she would need to check with Misco Technical Support whether a return could be accepted... a few grunts on the phone later and she replied "no". She told me that since 14 days had passed I would need to take the issue up with the manufacturer and she duly gave me the item, receipt and a bit of paper with a phonenumber on it!

For those who know anything about the Sale of Goods act, they will know that this is a complete and utter lie and I put this to her in no uncertain terms. Returns for faulty goods must be refunded by law providing they are returned by 30 days and the contract of sale lies between the customer and the RETAILER not the customer and manufacturer. She started to get a bit flustered and said she'd have to go and call her manager to check.

This time she left her desk and 2, what I'd describe as, warehouse monkeys came to the desk and started to grill me and stated that they'd overheard what I had said. They INSISTED that I was wrong and that they had worked in customer services and knew the facts. They then proceeded to question how I knew the item was faulty.. "what technical qualifications have you got??" was one choice question. At this point the girl returned and joined in the questioning essentially to get me to admit that the item was not faulty, and that my reason for return was that it didn't do what I wanted it to do.. (ie. so she could refuse a return).

Anyway, I refused to back down to what I can only describe as out and out intimidation and the mention of reporting the incident to the sales manager and trading standards finally shut them up and I left the store with my refund.

The entire experience was very embarassing however, as there were other customers around at the same time while I was being made out as a liar. I am sure someone who was less aware of their rights as a consumer would have accepted the bulls*** that she tried to feed me at the start.

Letter will be getting posted to trading standards as soon as I find out where to post it to! For anyone in any doubt over their basic consumer rights, there is a handy FAQ here: http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/facts/salegoodsact.htm

In summary (sorry, that fairly dragged on a bit!) MISCO - AVOID! <-- or at least beware of their woeful customer relations.

->> I should add that I've had over 6 years custom with Misco in their various guises over the years and have always been satisfied. This, however, is the first faulty item that I've had to return and I was/am basically shocked at the level of customer service and I am absolutely crapping myself if the 27"LCD I got from them breaks down!!

I'm not sure if this model is actually networkable  in the standard ethernet way, at least. It only has USB 2.0 and a parrellel port as connection methods. The 2550N is networkable. All according to this PC World review:
