I am also 29 and in the process of clearing debt. Got my fingers crossed for you in being able to achieve your dream of owning your own horse. I currently have an ex-racehorse on DIY livery so more than happy to offer guidance or help regarding future expenses

Ahhh Thankyou! I had horses through my teen years when my parents (now elderly and needing my support) funded them and I’m ashamed of how much I took that for granted! Now I have my own mortgage and bills it feels a world away but I LOVE hearing from people making it work whilst paying off debt and working xSquirrelz92 said:Hello and welcome to the DFW thread! Good luck with your journey.
you'll get lots of support and helpful tips on here. We all have our own reasons for getting into debt and for wanting to get out of debt and we all support each other on our journeys.
I forward to reading your diary.

Brilliant news regarding the £200 credit for ASOS (like you said, its a shame it's not in cash but at least you will make use of it).
Sorry you have to go under the knife, hopefully nothing too serious? At least you have saved another £100 from being spent! xDebt Remaining: £8,781.53

I’ve been feeling sorry for myself this morning looking through horsey peoples that I know instagrams and wondering how they afford their lifestyles, to compete at a high level, buy new horses etc.
as they say comparison is the thief of joy!
giving myself a stern talking to, off to write a gratitude list - there are so many people worse off than me and I need to get a grip!I have a good job that lets me wfh the majority of the time , a lovely partner who took me out for pizza on him last night, own a house, have two exciting trips to look forward to and my health appears to be finally improving ❤️Also I had a rejig of my ‘personal’ Monzo budget last night and I think I’ll be able to squeeze in a riding lesson this month too!0 -
Okay so my partner gets paid halfway through the month so joint account is topped up so groceries come from that. We are trying to build a buffer in joint account for energy bills so being sensible. Cats are main expense to be honest. So my budget for the rest of the month (18 days until payday!)
riding lesson - 30 (definitely a treat but not had one in months!)
petrol - 20 (only in the office two days between now and November so should be manageable)
work gifts/collections - 10
planned meal with friend - 30(absolute max! Should not be this much but budgeting over just in case)
which leaves me with £10 personal spends for the rest of the month!Should be doable, I need to do lots of studying so will be aiming for lots of NSD weekends doing that and sorting the house out.Fat kitty is off to the vets for a health check in the morning, I have 50 pounds set aside for this but if it’s more my partner will cover the rest.Other than that it’s a no spend weekend for me! Doing 2 days overtime which is good aswell :-) I’ll be tired but it will be worth it!0 -
Hey! Welcome to the diaries section!!
Seems like you’re making all the right choices!!I’ll be looking forward to following your progress!1 -
Hi good luck with your plans. Have you considered walking with your friends, good for you both / all and free. No need to give up socialising, just do it differently V x1
