Council tax single occupancy question

Hi,

I am potentially moving abroad for the majority of the year for work. I will still be paid in the UK and be a UK resident. My partner will be in the house alone. I am not sure how often I will return to the UK (it could be as little as a couple of weeks a year, or as month as a few months).

Would my partner be eligible for the single persons council tax discount? Or is this not applicable as it would technically still be my UK address?

Thanks

You'd still be resident for council tax purposes.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

I work for a local authority. Unfortunately, because you haven't technically moved out & will return your partner would not be eligible for a single occupancy discount.

And how would you be doing that if it’s still your address and you’re still staying there at intervals?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

So you propose to remove every single item you own from property?

Remove yourself from all bills and change your driving license, bank account, credit cards etc to another address?

And never stay in the property again?
