Yes, I have the IHD in the original box. Including mains power and (which is the source of some of my confusion) a battery.

    Great.

The lack of a power switch is probably because it's designed to be plugged in and on all the the time. My older model does have a power switch but I don't use it. If it is turned off it takes some time to sync up data with the meter again.

Interesting that there is a disagreement between people who know more than me about whether the IHD can be commissioned remotely or not. I have now spoken to someone at SMS (the installing firm) who said that their technical department will check to see whether or not it can be done remotely. The IHD is a Chameleon IHD3-PPMID-AAA 2022 Model CA309005 type1.

Trouble-shooting instructions from SMS say to turn the deice off and on via the power button on the back. But there doesn't seem to be a power button. Possibly the little bit below the battery compartment, though I can't see how that can be presses, a fingernail won't do it.
Presumably the AAA in the model name relates to the battery size it takes. Not a version I've seen mentioned here before but actually you're probably better off as a result as you'll be able to replace the battery should you ever need to whereas most people won't have this option.
Yes, it's the battery size, mine is the same. That cover is extremely difficult to get off, and it's not really worth bothering with as someone mentioned earlier, the batteries only last a few hours any way. It really does need to be plugged in...which is what will turn it on too on my one, there is no on/off button.

It might be difficult to open but you could help by stating how you got yours off and got into it?

The reason I asked about the power switch is that several user guides refer to turning it off and on as a method of troubleshooting, or simply for initial installation. If it weren't for that I would be happy without one. Thank you, Jyana, for confirming that your IHD also does not have an on/off button. It is annoying when user guides do not apply to the model one has, I did a lot of searching and all the guides I found referred to that button.
