Take from E-mail from Octopus when notifying us about the 2 year Energy Price Guarantee  

The Government's Energy Price Guarantee is helping lower unit rates, but standing charges are still astronomical. 6 months ago, we introduced Loyal Octopus support to help address this, but today Loyal Octopus support is changing to direct support where it's needed most.

We're reducing your standing charges a further 4% from the Government discounted level – I wish it could be more, but in times like these it's only right to direct as much help as possible to those less fortunate. We've also stopped advertising on TV, bus stops, train stations, sports arenas and online, and are redirecting all these funds to help customers who are struggling.

We'll use these funds to provide a standing charge holiday for up to 100,000 customers, for up to 6 months, depending on need. We'll share more about this new program soon.

All large energy suppliers have set aside funds ( and increased funds) to help those struggling, some might suggest Octopus are minded to do what gives them the best headlines/writeups

They previously got a lot of publicity and replied to customers that Loyalty SC discount would add up to £48 over a year which  has not been the case.

Your electricity unit from 1 October should be between 33p-35p depending on region

When did they stop paying the loyalty SC discount credit ? I would have thought it would have been paid up until 30 September ....

And it hits low users more than high users 
Because high users save more than low users 
How is that fair?

You are right - I have no idea where I got those rates from.....
34.23p + 42.77 p per day electric
10.46p + 26. 84p per day gas

Be grateful you got it for so long rather than complaining, they didn't have to give a loyalty discount at all, they were being nice.

Why do you think that it is not the case? Up to means everything between £0 and £48.

No, 'adding up to' means totalling.  Though the only reason that's not been the case is because they've not been able to keep it for a whole year.

I used to. Pay £400 for gas and electricity and this is now predicted at over £1600
