Uber eats refusing to refund undelivered order

  • Hi, I had a similar problem that was only resolved yesterday that I posted about here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6388799/should-i-report-uber-eats-to-trading-standards-my-bank/

My chargeback was successful but they simply post it back onto your uber account as owing, then you can't book anything with uber unless it's paid.  I phoned them and eventually someone from their escalation team looked into it and after I sent 4 followup emails asking for an update, they cleared the balance and apologised.  So you may have to do the same if you want to continue to use uber.  If you don't there may be a small risk that uber could pursue you for the balance at a later date.  I have no idea if they do or don't but was slightly worried about the possibility of it getting passed to debt collection or something and affecting my credit file.  Again this is a theoretical risk, I don't know if they do that or not

It can't be good for uber's bank account getting all these chargebacks, I read somewhere if they exceed 5% of total transactions their account could be suspended

    Let's hope that happens.

You read about small companies which are dealt with by blanket rules. Large companies are dealt with by individuals and negotiations. Some industries are simply expected to get more chargebacks than others (hence why for SMEs in certain industries its very hard to get facilities in the first place).

I'd be highly surprised if 1 in 20 transactions are resulting in a chargeback

    Hi,
I wanted to treat my kids to a McDonald's on 30th September so I placed an order through the McDonald's app.
Is the McDonalds app linked to Uber, then?

I would be surprised if it was less than 1 in 10,000. Given the number of uber orders a day.

Who do you pay?  Do Uber get the full amount of the order or do McDonalds pay them a delivery fee?

I'm still waiting on refunds from October 2021 and March 2022.

Uber eats and McDonald's just blame each other but neither want to help me get my money back. I've just given up on it now. I'll never use uber eats again and so far I haven't.

I tried a charge back with my bank but they refused on the basis that I had no proof of a promise of a refund, silly me didn't know I should have recorded my phone call to uber eats.

What I would recommend to anyone that does have issues is to record phone calls and keep emails and keep them until the money is back in your account. Too late for op obviously.

Payment goes through Uber first apparently
