However, although I appreciate the extra stresses on their teams during recent energy issues, I'm finding them very difficult to deal with now I actually do need to talk to them.
Are you emailing or calling them?
Right now for something like this I would pick up the phone if possible rather than getting stuck in a 7 day + email queue.
That cannot be right: according to Octopus - 'As a company we pride ourselves on outrageously good service'.
Even with the wait, I'll still take Octopus every time over the alternatives, they do actually fix stuff, and as you know there are routes to escalate anything really important if absolutely necessary.
Personally I am prepared to deal with the wait, especially right now where CS is swamped with people confused by all aspects of these changes.

I am a great fan of Octopus but I have to say that I don’t think that they have communicated the changes very well - or, in my case, not at all.

@EssexHebridean Indeed, we will be colder - we will be using far less than pretty much any winter I can remember, but l have to confess to being almost profligate with heating in the past - if I was cold - I turned it up without any real thought to the cost, which up to now, we are fortunate to have been able to cover without too much discomfort. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Much of the recent 'journey' (and several 'epic' threads on here) many of us have gone on in our quest to use less and understand more about energy has in several aspects revealed significant cost we never need have paid (gaming PC's run on bleeding edge settings; insulation in the loft that was inadequate, lights and appliances left on in empty rooms...I feel quite ashamed when I think how wasteful we were. We're not done yet - some things will take time to scale back and are not instant fixes but nevertheless, we are moving forward :)

Having finally got Octopus to put me back on the SVT (I had signed up to their Loyalty Fixed just before the government intervention) I have realised that my monthly DD is still set for the Fixed rate and I am now nearly £1000 in credit.
I am still struggling to get a response from Octopus - I've asked them to set the DD to an amount that reflects my estimated usage which is: £1582.33 a year for electricity £942.26 a year for gas.
While I await a response (and for my online account to update) - can anyone tell me roughly what my DD should likely be? I'm in the West Midlands.
You should pay one twelfth of your annual usage per month if paying by DD which at the figures you say your electric and gas will be is £210.39 per month. If you then remove £66 per month from that your DD should be £144.39 until April 2023 but that assumes there are no increases in fuel prices in that time.
Someone please tell me what money is

@Zandoni - as I said in my OP, I am nearly £1000 in credit

@MWT - The option to change my DD has disappeared, thats why this is a problem

Edit: Estimated use is 5005 kWh electric and 11452kWh Gas

BIB are you sure? I’ve just checked both online my account & app & I still have the ability to adjust both amount & date of my DD

When my account was in credit by a smaller amount than yours a few months ago, Octopus actually suggested I might like a refund. They even suggested a figure which left a reasonable credit balance going forwards.
