I took out a Barclays credit card in June with 0% on purchases until 1st May 2024. I have the email which tells me this with the welcome email. I haven’t used the card but I’m wanting to use it now. I’ve just logged onto my online account and can’t find anything with the 0% on purchases anywhere at all on my account. Will the promotion still be on there or can They take it away? I’d give them a call but they are closed.

Quite often these 0% deals have to be started within a certain period after opening. You should have received an an email when you opened the account.

I had a welcome email telling me what offers came with the card and 0% on purchases until 1st May 2024 was listed but there was no date given when I need to start spending by. There was another reminder email at a later date but it was only to remind me that I have until May 2024 to make purchases at 0% interest

i've never heard of a 0% purchase card having a clause where you have to start spending within a time frame to keep it but maybe i'm wrong in thinking that with balance transfer cards its usually 90 days to do any transfers.

If you are worried you don't have the 0% offer anymore i'd contact barclays CS and ask i would predict they will say yes you do and i would be suprised if what tadley was correct but i've never waited months to use a new purchase card so who knows.

It's quite common for there to be a restricted window for purchases.  Often it'll be something like "any purchases made during the first 90 days are interest-free, and need to paid off by May 2024".  But equally, lots of cards will be interest-free for any purchases made during the promotional period (although if you bought something on February 2024 you'd only benefit from 3 months 0% on that purchase).
It's the same with money-transfer cards - sometimes there's a restricted window, sometimes it's any time for the life of the promotion.
OP does need to clarify with Barclays.

In my experience the promotional periods and offers are never shown in the app, with any bank. Sometimes they are mentioned on the credit card statements, but not always, so sometimes you just have to rely on memory.
  • Check on the card statement, it should say what is on there. Or spend on it a small amount that is affordable and see if it is listed as 0% on the statement

you live and learn i didn't know that !! all my purchase credit cards were for 18/24 months etc

which banks give you just 90 days to purchase the items then give you those purchases at 0% for x amount of months so i know who to avoid lol

They're all different - and even different cards offered by the same bank will have different offers and different T&Cs.

i'll let the post get back on track hope the OP gets it sorted.

To be fair, I think it would be true to say that most 0% purchase cards give you 0% on any purchases during the lifetime of the promotion.  And most 0% balance transfer cards have the "90 day or whatever" restricted window.  But always check the T&C's because there will always be exceptions to the norm.
