Company not fulfilling order

Hello,

i have had had a product (a bed frame) on order a quite a while which was due for delivery later this month. The company have today emailed to say that despite me ordering and paying for this item they are no longer able to fulfil it as they’ve decided to discontinue it and have not retained stock for existing orders.

They has suggested I look at other similar products they sell which are more expensive but will not cover the difference in price. This is despite me having a contract with them for a product they are no longer fulfilling.

Is is anyone able to give me an idea of whether I am covered by consumer rights for the company to cover the difference in replacement product cost?

No, your consumer right is for a refund

What does your contract actually say about when the contract is formed? If its not mentioned its immediate but most retailers state the contract is formed on despatch of the goods. If yours says similar there isnt even an outside argument for any compensation for breach of contract and subsequent losses.

Presumably these higher priced items are higher priced because they are different rather than being the same price as your item ordered at that time but subsequently increased due to inflation?
