eSim options for emergency use?

I am thinking of buying the huawei watch 3 pro (not on contract) which has eSim. This would only be used for emergency calls. Therefore, I don't want any expensive plans. I checked esim.net, but they charge £13 per month. Are there any other options? I looked at Vodphone basics at £6 per month, but am unsure if they support eSim on that tariff? What about foreign providers that will work in the UK. I am not bothered about the call costs, even if £2 per minute, as it will only be used for emergency calls. I just want to avoid expensive monthly fees. What do people suggest?

A discussion with an assistant in a Vodafone store when I was picking up a Galaxy smartwatch earlier this year suggests that they do not supply stand-alone eSims for devices other than phones. How they (technically) enforce this I've no idea, something to do with taking a picture of a QR-code with the device's camera?
You would have to buy your watch from them (and they don't sell Huawei watches).0
