How long should I keep Halifax account after incentive?

Hi everyone, I want to switch my Halifax current account to my Nationwide one to get £200 switching bonus, but I was paid my Halifax switching bonus on the 4th of May. Does anyone think I might have to pay my switch bonus back to Halifax this soon after receiving it? I thought I might wait until 4th November as that will be 6 months but I'm worried they might pull the Nationwide incentive by then. Thanks for any thoughts.

Just switch it. Once the bonus is paid you can switch that day1

Really!?! Thanks so much, that's my job for this afternoon x0

I'd open another account with Halifax and switch that. The Halifax reward account is a very easy fiver a month to get.1

Thanks Bridlington1 but I don't get £5 per month from it - I pay in the minimum on a carousel each month (so it gets moved straight out again) but only keep a penny in it, having to keep £5000 in there doesn't seem worth it (especially as I have Barclays Blue Rewards so just moved 5k into their 5.12% Rainy Day!) and I don't spend on my debit card as I use Chase (the 5% round up makes it fun!) But I'm not replying in order to brag, even though it looks like it, I am interested to know if I'm missing something?

You can also use a rewards credit card (i.e. Amex, Asda etc) and settle your bill by debit card (so long as your card issuer allows it, Natwest Group and HSBC do not).

Apologies, the Cambridge BS account has been closed to new applicants. You simply have to open a savings account that lets you make deposits by debit card and pay £500 into it using your Halifax debit card and you will get the £5 from Halifax. Your best bet now will be to use YBS (see below)

That's incredibly kind, thank you. We have an offset mortgage with Barclays though (two years left on it), a tracker one that is 0.75% over the base rate so at the moment any savings we pile in there (for 3% "savings") as we expect the base rate will just keep climbing - what is galling is having fifty thousand pounds in a two year 1.75% account that doesn't mature until NEXT October, although if this is all I have to complain about, I'll take it.
Thanks so much though, and give my love to Bridlington, hope it's still as lovely as in the 70s and 80s when we went every year.0 -
Skipton also allow debit card depositsI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0
