If you needed to cancel you would be cancelling for both of you. But, will your proof from the travel company of the booking and cost state it is for one person?

Hello all, thanks for the replies. I'm being a bit vague, sorry, my husband has a diagnosed serious illness (confirmed in July). At the moment we have to "watch and wait" with regular checkups, he is perfectly OK at the moment, and able to lead a normal life, but should the illness kick in (we're not expecting it to) he may need treatment, and I'd probably question me going away and leaving him.

I've been looking at an annual joint policy now maybe, where we are both covered for the year, but he just doesn't come on this trip. I'm hoping we will be able to take a couple of weeks away next year, so would already be covered.

It may be difficult to get his condition insured with a standard insurer.
sometimes there are charities who might advise for example for cancer it would be Macmillan as there can be certain insurers who know about certain conditions.
