Part of the reason for the huge differences is because the government support was only applied from 1 November but calculated as though it had been applied from 1 October. The Power NI price for the month of October was much less than everyone else and so when calculating the retrospective discount, Power NI’s retrospective discount was also much lower than everyone else. Now that Power NI have increased their standard rate to be the same as everyone else, the overall discount is greater for the other providers because people with those suppliers paid more than they should. Clearly they haven’t thought about people who might have been with Power NI in October and switched in November, as they effectively get the discount twice!
