@skycatcher the comparison table is now available to download from https://www.consumercouncil.org.uk/policy-research/publications/electricity_price_comparison_table
Interestingly, Power NI in most instances now seem least competitive.butterfly )i(1 -

Must be a lot switching to PowerNI, I asked for a quote two weeks ago and they've yet to ring me. Bit annoying that you can't do a straight switch as with others, might just go to Electric Ireland rather than keep running on an expensive tariff until Power NI get their act together

I just switched to Electric Ireland a few days ago, 13.5p kwh plus a £100 credit and my direct debits will reduce from £113 to £60 per month. Should receive a payment from Power NI of my surplus credit £300 to help pay for some oil.I was on Ecomony 7 with Power NI, they reduced all rates but increased the Ecomony 7 day rate, so the day rate now costs 9.3% more than their cheapest standard rate. That was the final straw for me, after 21 years.

Can anyone explain as per @moneytalks above why the Electric Ireland deal is so good? I am really wary of too good to be true schemes and this seems to good to be true
are there any unforeseen downsides? Currently paying 28.11 per unit with Power NI so more than double the cost with Electric Ireland. I’ve never seen differentials like this before, it usually comes down to a penny a unit or something.

Budget and Click prices are 15p and 14p per kwh.I can only conclude that some companies are passing on the full government assistance with others are not.1

Electric Ireland clearly states that their tariff includes the government assistance and that this is approximately a 55% reduction

@belfastgirl23 often if you have a huge rate difference (and 50% is more than that), there is usually something wrong.
Are they out of cycle price change wise (i.e. is the cheaper one due a rate increase)? Does one have a standing charge? Generally the more you use the better value ones with a standing charge will be, though for light users, they can have hefty welcome bonuses which more than offset the standing charge, but you do need to look to switch when the minimum term is up.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!1
