Octopus Energy website showing incorrect direct debit

No matter how clear you make something unfortunately a large proportion of the population will fail to understand or put their own interpretation on it.

It was/is like this with the Cost of Living payments. Even once the government page had updated to include clear eligibility details, people still manage to not understand. In fairness, it was not reported on clearly, and it did take time for the details to be clarified - just like with the EBSS £400.
I think a lot of it is just lack of information literacy, not knowing where to look in the first place. Beyond that I do struggle to understand how so many people are still confused once shown the correct information, but the best thing to do is to help them understand and hope it helps for any future comprehension needs. And if not, at least they're informed for this one rather than still being left in the dark.2 -
When was the email sent from Octopus confirming the amount of the monthly DD will be reduced by the £67 or £66 amount? I haven't received this at all.Indecision is the key to flexibility

It was included in the tariff change emails, it is on the Blog, and it is on your payment details page on your account.anniecave said:When was the email sent from Octopus confirming the amount of the monthly DD will be reduced by the £67 or £66 amount? I haven't received this at all.

The monthly DD emails this month ago say..........
"This is £67.00 less per property than usual, to pass on the discount of the Energy Bill Support Scheme. From October, you'll receive a monthly discount on your account of £66 (rising to £67 from December to March) from the Government.
We're required to reduce your monthly payments as part of the scheme - but should you prefer to use the scheme to build up a buffer, simply adjust your payment back up in the next 48 hours."

That one is a little variable depending on when in the month your DD was taken, my email arrived 8th September and doesn't mention it, but it is in all the other places I mentioned above....CanNeverThinkOfAUsername said:The monthly DD emails this month ago say..........

Octopus had reduced my DD by the govs £67.This would not have been nearly enough to cover my usage over an average year.I increased my DD amount by 50%.But also asked for my several hundred pound credit balance back.I haven't heard from them yet!0

You mean the amount including the £67 that will be credited to your account by the government each month wasn’t going to be enough?Freebird53 said:Octopus had reduced my DD by the govs £67.This would not have been nearly enough to cover my usage over an average year.I upped it by 50%.0 -
Yes, not nearly enough. As indicated, around 50% short (dependant to a degree upon winter temps). And thats also taking my credit balance into account![Deleted User] said:You mean the amount including the £67 that will be credited to your account by the government each month wasn’t going to be enough?
