Anyone had any luck haggling O2 on their SIM-only deal?

Just spoke to O2 as they have raised my charges £13.10/month for 20GB/month (unlimited texts/calls). Technically it's 40GB/month because of my Virgin Media package.

Tesco Mobile have their £12.50/month (with clubcard) offer which offers the same package but 60GB/month. O2 said Tesco's offer was a "fantastic deal" (there words not mine) and they couldn't match it (they offered to put me on an upgrade that would increase the price to £15/month for 50GB). They couldn't even match it with Volt.

I said I would leave for Tesco and they basically just asked if I wanted my PAC code :D .

Although it's not exactly the same network as O2 they do rent off of the same infrastructure and they cover all the areas I go to. Should I just go for Tesco or go for round 2 of haggling O2?

You can get 20GB per month on a 12 month contract with O2 for £8 per month via Uswitch.

You would have to port out and back in again if you want to keep your existing number.

That's the plan but a better deal from O2 avoids the pain of porting my number. There's no way in hell they'll match Tesco Mobile but getting a better deal can't hurt. Especially since they are now offering the exact same deal I'm paying £13 for, for £8.

As long as you are happy with slower 4G speeds, no 4G calling or Wifi calling then Tesco may be suitable.

Unless things have changed they do not offer some of the things you may be taking for granted being on O2.

Fair point. Forgot Tesco don't support VoLTE which is worth considering but don't really use Wi-Fi calling. Just trying to cut where I can.

    And did you take it..?
For a round 2 haggle you need to be seen to be serious about leaving them...

As above go via USwitch and see if you can get a better deal if you wish to stay with o2.

You dont even need to port your number. I swapped to the same 4GB plan (only cheaper by £1)/ month ) by going through Uswitch.  It simply asks are you an existing O2 customer, when you say yes its moves you to the new tariff within 24 hrs.  You dont even get a new SIM.

What networks do you get a good signal from? Is it just O2, or also Vodafone, Three etc?

O2 are currently doing 20Gb/unltd/unltd for £8/month on a 12 month contract if you go via https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only-filters/.
You can upgrade from an existing contract in your O2 account using the link from that.
