Tesco and others have run offers like this in the past. True that supermarkets are not necessarily the cheapest at present. What is unfair about offering a discount to people who use the shop and setting it at a (fairly low) value? If you don't want to/can't do it then fine go somewhere else but I would suspect not many who a. have a car b. need to put fuel in and c. shop spend that much less than £40 on the weekly shop.Grey_Critic said:Morrisons have been more expensive for a long time. I have paid as much as 10p litre less. The idea that we all can spend £40 just like that is unfair. Might be OK for a family shop but Pensioners would struggleVery rare my bill at Morrisons is £40.00 - I shop where I get the best deal AND I have a Morrisons Family Discount Card. but for the items we use on a regular basis ASDA - B&M - ALDI and Home Bargains are cheaper even with my discount.I actually take a couple of Pensioners to the supermarket and I cannot recall when they last spent £40 in a shop.

Well how economical of you and friends but I can understand a supermarket saying here is a discount once you have spent a certain amount. Do these sub £40 pensioners that you take to the shop have cars and would benefit from the offer? Perhaps Home Bargains will offer you money off your petrol or diesel? I'm guessing that Morrison's won't mind all that much if you withdraw your custom (I suppose you could put all your shopping in one basket and it might meet the minimum assuming the 5p off a litre is worth the aggro.)Grey_Critic said:Very rare my bill at Morrisons is £40.00 - I shop where I get the best deal AND I have a Morrisons Family Discount Card. but for the items we use on a regular basis ASDA - B&M - ALDI and Home Bargains are cheaper even with my discount.I actually take a couple of Pensioners to the supermarket and I cannot recall when they last spent £40 in a shop.0 -
Please, gentlemen, I did say I didn't want to resurrect the age-old argument about supermarket vs branded fuel. Otherwise this thread will run to 736 pages with no tangible resolution[Deleted User] said:
What do you mean by 'disagree'?shiraz99 said:I've always found Morrison's diesel to slightly disagree with my car, I've not had any issues with other supermarkets' fuel.
And why 'always'? Why did you continue to buy this disagreeable product?

The head line goes 5p off every litre of fuel if you spend £40.
All well and good, but in the (very) small print this deal excludes Pay at the Pump.

I run a diesel and do very few miles, I fill up every 3 month.
Costco is the only way to go for me.
They only sell premium diesel about 16-18p a litre cheaper than anyone else.
£9 a tank cheaper.
