Virgin Media Price Increase

Hi
I've been with Virgin Media for a few years now, and its almost always been £27/month.
I've just recently realised they increased my bill to £54/month in march.
I'm not sure why but a friend mentioned likely due to intial discounts no longer applicable. Apparently if you notice straight away and call them they put it back down to 27-29/month but I hadnt realised this was happening for the past 6 months or so.
I just use internet, no TV or anything else, think its the 100mb deal that I was on.
I am really angry about this though as I received no warning.
Is there any way I can get any of this 'extra' money they've been charging back? I'm not on a contract, would it be worth threatening to leave?
Or is there no way of getting this money back?
thanks

You could politely ask, but basically it was down to you to make a note in your diaryBefore threatening to leave make sure you have Plan B ready and somewhere to go, spend some time getting alternative prices and availability before calling VirginEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

May have rolled on to an almost always more expensive out of contract price with 30 days notice required - signing up to a new contract should be cheaper and there may be some goodwill reduction on what you have already paid - if you are going to walk away there is no incentive for them to offer you anything back0

And deals do expire, typically 12/18/24 months from when they were agreed.IF you want to stay with them, phone them up and get a new deal. Otherwise search the market and find another deal. And you are on a contract - a one month rolling one at full price. That's your own fault (the full price thing, not the one month rolling contract, that's normal).0

You can't get the past money back - they would have told you about the 'normal' price after the initial discount period when you first signed up, and its not in their interest to encourage you to negotiate that down with them.
You can however stop the bleed going forward by finding another deal and then using that to negotiate them down to a better deal, with the alternative that you leave and take the other company deal if they don't.0 -

Are you in an Openreach FTTP area? Check for deals with alternative providers. Many now have prices that stay fixed and where the price won't be more than a new customer when the contract ends.0
