I think they cost about 200-300 pounds, but once installed you can get free hot water for 6 months of the year.
They cost well over £500+ with installation on top, and do not make financial sense when export tariffs are this high. Unless you get one included for free in which case, an Eddi is an excellent diverter!

    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

If they are already putting the panels in they will be sending a sparky round anyway. I added the iboost to my order at the last minute and they didn't add anything for installation.I checked on the internet - current price about £350. If you don't have to pay for it - why not ask and see if you can get one for free. I was just thinking that if Staffsuk doesn't have the gas boiler, at least she would be able to get hot water without boiling kettles which is REALLY expensive. Also it depends who you are with for your export tariff - if Octopus at 15p then maybe not, but if you are on one of the 4p or less tariffs then you aren't going to get that much for your export.
  • Interesting they are haven't installed yet. I applied at first opportunity in April or may. I must of hit lucky? LMFCS designed the installation based in Liverpool im in Norfolk. They did 4 installs a day, you can imagine the workmanship... But I can't complain.

Have you got your design details yet?

So they called today, to make an appointment to install 10 panels on one South East roof elevation, and a follow-up appointment with an electrician to wire it all up and install the inverter etc. I've requested a call back from the installer to go over a couple of things. Yes, no gas boiler, but the old tank & immersion heater are still in situ. I will ask about a diverter, I had no idea this could be included as an added extra so to speak.

Congrats! Ask them if you have any say on the brands of panel/ inverter (what your options are if any?)

Thanks! No choice re: the inverter & panels, which will be Solis and Longi LR5-54HIH-400M. I guess they buy them in bulk. Can't complain really, given it's costing me nowt! I did call back to ask about a diverter, and they said this specific council / E.ON / government scheme wouldn't cover its cost, so I would have to fund that myself if I wanted one. Had my smart meters installed this week.
  • That's a good size, I wish I got some optimisers fitted, especially on my front ones where I get shading.

Don't know much about Longi panels, but Solis has a reasonable rep for inverters.
  • Ha! Well, would you believe it, after some waiting I spoke to the installers again today, and they have just said that the funding from the council has run out! So, all of that for nothing. I guess someone got paid for all the work done thus far. I spoke again with the referral charity (Beat The Cold), who said funding under a new scheme may be available, Eco4 Flex, but my initial application was under that scheme AFAIK. Oh well!
