I will report as I cant answer new pointsMWT said:Densol said:The rules about billing beyond 12 months - very black and white...Just on that point, the rules only come into play if they are billing you for use that was not previously billed at the time, if there is no new use in this re-billing exercise the back-billing rules have no part to play in it, so it will not help your case to make reference to it.For the rest, you said you have been taking photos of your meter readings every month, but you didn't say if you have been submitting those readings to EDF each month as well?If you have then it should be easy to deal with this re-billing exercise through their complaints system, if you had not previously given them the actual readings then the re-billing exercise would have been triggered by your recent actual readings and while it should still be possible to sort things out with a complaint, it will be more difficult as the readings were not submitted at the time...2 -
I appreciate that this is rather "stable door" advice however it's good practise to ALWAYS either print or screenshot your bills as soon as they arrive. I usually do, as sods law would have it the ONE in recent times that I didn't was the one that UW deleted and reissued after I pointed out their cheeky attempt to overcharge me by ignoring readings provided at the April rate change. It served to underline the message for sure!What_time_is_it said:One thing I am not sure about in my dealing with EDF is this... When they cancel a bill and I can no longer see or download it, does that mean that the bill and all my previous meter readings have also been wiped from THEIR systems too? I foolishly didn't keep my own copies and I thought I would always be able to access my bills in my online account.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Being rude and aggressive to people and using "shouty capitals" isn't necessary OP - it wasn't clear from your earlier posts whether you were submitting the readings you were taking, hence several people asking the question. You've now clarified, so all good. Nobody thought your were "thick" - but you are correct, your posting wasn't clear.Densol said:

I supply readings to EDF EVERY time they have asked over the past 18 months. On these readings which the LOCK in the usage in the correct tariff at the correct time I have been billed. The new bill replaces all READINGS with estimates to EDF advantage taking usage out of cheaper tariffs and putting it in more expensive tariffs.
I am not sure I can make this any clearer.
Its like buying something in a shop 14 months ago. Agreeing a price and paying. Then the shop bills you 14 months later at a different price as the product increased.
So have you written to EDF with a full list of all the readings that you had given them previously asking them to recalculate the bills correctly? What was their response to this?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

You might also wish to revise your post title. Fraud is a criminal offence: if you have evidence of fraud then pass it on to the Police. Posting under a username doesn’t give you protection in law if the other party decides to sue for libel.Densol said:Ive edited my post to make it clearer0 -
If this happened to me, I'd write out a timeline pointing out the discrepancies between what EDF have on the bill and what you have on your records. Do it right from the beginning of when the changes happened. Highlight the differences to EDF and ask them to explain/clarify why there are differences.
List in date order, show the meter readings you have vs readings EDF are using. Then note the differences in the kwh prices you should be billed at vs the kwh prices EDF are charging on the revised bill.
Dumb it down and give as much information as possible. Do this in writing to the complaints department. Make it clear at the top of the letter that it is a complaint. Then see what they say. They could come back and explain there was an error and revise the bill/correct it. Or they could come back and provide an explanation for the changes. Then you can go down the route of the ombudsman.

The entire premise of this accusation now seems to be that EdF have reportedly deleted correct and accurate actual readings, replacing them with incorrect and unsourced estimates.
If that's true, without all the ranting, shouting and block caps, then you might have a simple case to deal with as long as you have evidence.
That's all that the Ombudsman would do anyway, ask EdF for an explanation of what readings they have used, when and why.1 -

I will re- post shortly with a clearer post as this has gone off tangent as I wasnt clear in original OP
so to check i understand (i'm a bear with a little brain and there's be a few changes as things have gone along) it went something like this (dates made up)?
Jan 2021 edf sent you an estimated bill. you took an actual reading and submitted it online. they provided an updated bill and you paid your normal DD to cover your annual estimate.
March 2021 edf sent you an estimated bill. you took an actual reading and submitted it online. they provided an updated bill and you paid your normal DD to cover your annual estimate.
May 2021 edf sent you an estimated bill. you took an actual reading and submitted it online. they provided an updated bill and you paid your normal DD to cover your annual estiomate.
so on each month until recently when you switched to variable DD.
After switching to variable DD edf recalculated your last 18 months of usage and provided a new bill for the 12 months which you think doesn't have you using the energy in the right quarters meaning that as your rates have gone up you are being overcharged?
and you have the copies of your bill and pictures of your meters from when you took your actual readings?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
