My LG wm takes 1hr 6 mins to do either a 30 degree dark wash (my default) or a 60 degree intensive wash (bedding/towels). I also use the 30 min quick wash for fleeces etc. 9kg and 1400 spin

Have you tried running a cleaning solution through it on a very hot cycle (and by very hot, I mean 90C, not 60C)?
If still no improvement, I'd be looking at a mid-range Bosch, from JL to ensure you get the 2 year warranty.
£500 is a good budget for mid-range: anything much under that will be cheap over-run/badge-engineered jobs, usually built in Turkey by Vestel.
Yes the machine has a self clean wash which is 90’, which I have run every 4-6 weeks since I got it,

Ive come across an EBAC British washing machine, it’s over budget but does come with a 7 years parts and labour guarantee, so could stretch to it. Does anyone have one?
It performed very poorly in a Which? test, though Ebac disputed the results. It's British assembled, but the majority of the parts are still sourced abroad. Motor, pump, etc.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I'm very impressed with my Ebac washing machine.

I had an issue with it recently (my fault) in that I had unknowingly left a bit of polystyrene packing lodged underneath when I installed it, and it eventually caught the drum and disconnected parts of a wiring loom which caused an error state.

A quick call to Ebac and they had an engineer (who worked on the production line so was very familiar with the machine) pop round to fix it within a couple of hours, he also made some minor adjustments that they perform on the machines now during manufacture, that they didn't do when mine was made (continual improvement and development).

Also the response to the Which test makes perfect sense to me, as it does seem the test is flawed and manufacturers who make machines to perform well in that test, rather than make machines that do your laundry well and efficiently, are probably letting their customers down (a bit like the emissions test controversy on diesel cars).

Just IMHO of course. I'd recommend anyone to have a good look and make their own conclusions.

We replaced our old failed Hoover washing machine with a Samsung about 6 month ago. It's 9kg model and 1400 spin. The spin is slower than our old machine but the clothes come out drier.

A full load takes around 90 minutes. And it has smart features so it'll pop on your phone when the cycle is finished etc.

I got it direct from Samsung with a 5 year warranty when they had a 20% discount available. Think it cost £450 back in May.

Our "not smart" Samsung washing machine plays a rather long and annoying little tune when it has finished a wash. Sort of nursery rhyme, but nothing you would know, and all in the quality of the typical beeps an appliance makes! :)
