EDF have 3 different rates - Direct Debit, Cash/Cheque and PAYG. If I want to pay my bill by direct debit based on the actual month’s usage which rate would I get ?

You answered this yourself in the question. Direct Debit.GlasgowExpat2 said:EDF have 3 different rates - Direct Debit, Cash/Cheque and PAYG. If I want to pay my bill by direct debit based on the actual month’s usage which rate would I get ?2 -
I wanted to double check as I don’t want them to calculate my annual cost and divide the figure by 12.0

Just make sure what you have asked for is Direct Debit with Exact Payments. That's what EdF call the version that you want.
They'll still have a typical figure in the background, to use if you don't send a meter reading, but otherwise it is as you say - pay by direct debit for your actual use in that month.0 -

The name of the payment method is actually
Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly)
That's straight from my account as it's the method I use and you do get the DD discounted rates.0 -
EDF do two Direct Debit schemes - Budget Direct Debit and Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly).

Strange that they use different wording in two different places then - but we've all seen stranger.0 -
Sorry to jump in on your post. But EDF are probably the worse company I have signed up with. (unfortunately there are none others around to move)0

I take it, DD whole amount (Monthly) is better than the Budget one?The_Green_Hornet said:EDF do two Direct Debit schemes - Budget Direct Debit and Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly).

It depends on individual circumstances.MigsyBigsy said:

If you can afford to pay for what you use each month then go for Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly) bearing in mind you will pay more during the winter months and less in the summer. You will also have to give a meter reading each month if you want the bills to be accurate.
If you want to spread your costs evenly throughout the year then go for Budget Direct Debit. You will only get a statement every six months though.
Personally, I haven't found EDF to be any worse (or better) than any of the other big energy suppliers.2
