ANPR camera incorrect

Hi,
I had some great advice on a ticket before and have been really careful not to get another parking ticket.

Until now. I’ve received a BPA associated letter for overstay in a car park. I will follow the advice and appeal on day 25 as per thread. However, the ANPR camera tracking my entry is an entire hour out! They have built a new entry into this car park following congestion. It says I entered at 18.10 but I was in work until 7pm that evening. I met a friend and my text messages confirm I was not there until after 7!

I have no real proof other than I know I wasn’t there, is it worth bringing this up? Letting trading standards know as I can’t be the only one they are using this fiddle on.

Should I just leave that out and follow your tried and tested process?

Many thanks

    Which parking firm?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Parc tawe in swansea - eternity fire and security limited. Yes, I do have a smart phone
  • Apologies - I used it for Aldi but uci cinema, bowling alley, b and m and some other retail units are there. They’ve recently added that entrance as there were lengthy waits to get out of the car park and people were being charged for waiting to excit. I believe they’ve changed the number of hours you can stay and there may be dual time frames in two areas (that are not physically separated). I stayed less than 2 hours which I know is the minimum allowable free timeframe (unless they faff the ANPR as they have).

    Why not contact the journalist?

And to get this investigated, immediately report them to Sara Roberts, BPA's Head of AOS and head it up FORMAL COMPLAINT, attaching a copy of the PCN.

    sara.r@britishparking.co.uk

and attach your iphone location records if they are enabled, or perhaps, evidence that you were sending emails at work at 6.15ish!

Is location tracking enabled on your 'phone? If so, you should be able to show where it was at the material time. On the balance of probabilities, your 'phone would have been in the same place as you at the material time.

To whoever owns parc tawe retail park, your agents name of parking scum have accessed and processed my personal data without just cause, and hold inaccurate data about myself on their systems,  this is a clear breach of GDPR (data protection) regulations.
You are jointly liable for the attractions of your agents..
You are required to instruct your agents to cease pursuing this parking charge, to remove, or disable the faulty inappropriate equipment (anpr camera system) and pay a reasonable amount of compensation for the gdpr breach, and the inconvenience, stress as worry you have caused as a result of allowing an un regulated parking company to operate on your behalf using flawed systems.
I trust i have your understanding on this matter, and look forward to hearing from you with a satisfactory solution

  • Gosh - you guys are good!
    update:
I had an email back from BPA.
They contacted the provider who reviewed their data and there was a ‘synchronisation’ error upon my vehicle entering the car park. In this instance the camera seems to have lost the time sand therefore the wrong time stamp has been added to your parking charge notice. The data for the rest of the day has been reviewed and it appears to be a one off error. The operator will look to see what they can do to avoid this in the future. They’ve received no other complaints.

Well done on getting this sorted out.

The UK government prohibits the use of ANPR scameras for monitoring council carparks because it is not fit for purpose, as you have just found out.
I take issue with the BPA's response. Just because nobody else has complained does not mean nobody else was scammed.

Please complain to your MP if you haven't already. It is important that this sort of thing is registered at the highest level.
