Be careful when using pliers on the filter housing, you might find the outer bit will break off and leave the inner filter still in there, not the end of the world as it should still pull out, though you might find that whatever is stopping it might wedge it in place, I’ve had some right fun and games on some washers, albeit commercial ones, but you never know, you might find a pound coin in there..
  • Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply and share those great tips. The pliers helped (but I was worrying about snapping). In the end I got someone out because I just couldn't shift it far enough to pull out. He fixed it pretty quickly - hair and hair grips clogging up the pipe. I will definitely make sure I clean it more regularly in future! Especially now I know removing the cupboard door and kickboard isn't as difficult as I'd told myself it would be.
  • Lefty loosey, righty tighty. For almost everything that you screw.
Fantastic! I will try to remember that...the trouble is I struggle with my left and right as well

I did wonder why you thought it would unscrew clockwise initially...

Cough, the secret is to check all your clothes before putting them in the wash.

B-H - who twice in the last 6 months had to lay the Bosch on its side and remove the pump hose from below. 50p coin, another coin, a face mask, two hair scrunchies.

What's the "emergency lock release" thing used for? I've never seen one of those?
  • I think for the main door, should the electric safety locking feature fail.
Best have a LARGE bucket ready for that one...

Which has never made any sense at all.
When you turn something clockwise half of it is going left, and half of it is going right. And when you turn something anti clockwise, half of it is going left, and half of it is going right.

Haha so true! Although the hair ball wasn't originally one item! To be honest, I was surprised that there wasn't more stuff, was definitely hoping for some small change at least
