Halifax/BoS have instant app notifications.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

For debit cards only, or also for credit cards?

On top of that LBG's notifications for debit card/current account are very spammy with reminders of standing orders due to be paid in the next few days or analysis of paid direct debit and how it compares to last month. May be useful to some but there is no option to control them, it's just one big on/off switch for all notifications or none.Report0

- the same app to check both the bank account and the credit card
- a traditional bank because I have heard horror stories about making large payments (house deposits, moving savings around, etc) with Monzo and the other challenger banks
- instant push notifications via the Android app. This is useful to check fraud but also to remind myself of subscriptions and other recurring payments
HSBC send transaction notifications for both their debit and credit cards - they work fine.
Do you mean instant notifications in the app for all transactions? Or only text alerts for some transactions which are suspicious or above a certain threshold?

All transactions.
I remembered I had a dormant HSBC bank account. I reactivated it and updated the app. I made a few transactions to test it, sending and receiving small amounts to/from my other bank account, but no notifications.

Sounds like notifications need to be activated on your account. They will only work once that is done.
Do you have an option under Communication Preferences to do with notifications?

I haven't changed anything but notifications now work on the HSBC account.
I have also applied for a Natwest account but it's been painful and slow - I made a post about it here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6396130/natwest-remains-the-typical-inefficient-slow-bank-with-clunky-processes-and-systems/p1?new=1

UPDATE: Natwest sends instant app notifications for both its debit and credit cards.Lloyds only for its debit card.I know - I have just opened both. Before I applied for Lloyds, their customer support confirmed to me that app notifications work for both debit and credit cards. False. They don't work for the credit cards. Their support is now saying that "this is being turned on in stages for the credit card"2
