the answer is engphys6

Absolutely agree, they've lost the plot. Brand competitions are to build awareness, engagement and ultimately sales. This is not making me love this watch company.greenteacups said:
We're getting into silly territory now. I know exactly what this means, but this is supposed to be a fun quiz about horology and it's turning into a bit of a farce in which a load of strangers have to club together to find the answer to obscure questions that nobody would know without Google.jktlinuxguy said:Q13 is quite the head-trip. The correct answer requires reviewing your source(s).7 -
Who was that directed towards?[DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]***Update - reported to Admins***1 -
I don't understand. You are not willing to give an answer away if you have spent hours on it. But you are willing to post cryptic clues to an already cryptic clue to help people to get the answer more easily.greenteacups said:To be fair - "reviewing your sources" is a good hint. With "behind the scenes" should lead you down the right path. Some of us have spent considerable time on this quiz and will be reluctant to give an answer away for hours worth of work (not necessarily this question).

I didn't post the cryptic clue and haven't given an answer away at any point, I'm just quoting the person who gave away the clue and giving a general direction. My issue with this quiz is that a) Bremont have made the quiz so ridiculously difficult that it is no longer fun and b) the quiz is structured in such a way that, come question 20, there are going to be a lot of people who have got there simply by following this thread. I appreciate that this is the entire reason for this thread to exist, but unlike some others perhaps, I genuinely like Bremont, have owned a few of their watches and personally feel like the winner should be someone who genuinely deserves it by being engaged with the brand, and has already spent their own money buying their products - i.e. a fan. And yes, I do feel it's unsportsmanlike to openly give away the answer, when others have answered it via their own merits (and a lot of time). The grand prize will be worth at least £3k, if not £4k-£5k so it's not like the answer is not worth a few quid. Irrelevant anyway as the answer is already public now...gdmoney said:

With "behind the scenes" should lead you down the right path." = giving a general direction, which is helping people get the answer. If you didn't want people to get the answer, why assist them in this way?And by viewing this thread, aren't you in danger of seeing somebody post an answer before you have worked it out for yourself, breaking your own sporting rules. My point is that there are prizes which are as valuable if not more valuable than this posted on the forum with the answers and nobody bats an eyelid, but for some reason this competition is being treated differently.Take the Radio Times Christmas picture competition where there about 50 cryptic pictures related to TV programmes. Forum users post e.g. "Picture 25 is Only Fools and Horses". Then everyone pools the answers they have found. They don't post "Yes, I know the answer to Picture 25 but I am not going to tell you but it's a comedy set in a European capital city".And why are there people joining the forum yesterday and only posting on this thread, if not to get the answers to the Bremont questions. Unless it's just to show off?

Absolutely no idea... I'm not a comper and am only on this thread as I couldn't get #11 on my own and was interested to see if others had also got 12. If you look back, I contributed the solving of #11. I'm not playing by any rules or have knowledge of how comping fair-play works. Seems like you are judging me for trying to be helpful. I didn't realise I had to give away the exact answer to gain your acceptance or avoid your judgement. Who cares, it's just a competition.1 -
I think the debatable point is that MSE compers will post competitions along with the answers whenever they know them as opposed to other comping sites which generally do not post the answers. A flood of new members who use given answers but do not contribute their own correct solutions tends to grate a bit. The prizes generally do not matter to MSE members, trivial or expensive, the fun is in entering and occasionally winning a surprise and giving the answers to comps with prizes in excess of £50,000 is something MSE would have no problems with. The more we all help each other, the more likely one of us will win a prize, which energises everyone else.greenteacups said:gdmoney said:And why are there people joining the forum yesterday and only posting on this thread, if not to get the answers to the Bremont questions. All very nice and I can see where you’re coming from, but I think you’ve cracked the nail on the head. This prize is important to a few of us and it does matter that a ‘non-fan’ may win it. Outside comping circles it’s bizarre that you would want to win a prize that you don’t care about. If I don’t win it, I’d like a fan of Bremont to win it. Selfish? I’m not sure, it’s a competition after all. Watch fans are passionate as you can tell….!1
