Speaker for use with Echo Dot?

We have an echo dot in the kitchen, and the sound quality is not that good. Can anyone recommend a speaker to use with it, please? A significant upgrade on the dot, but at a price level of say £30?

The full size Echo is now £55 and I am wondering whether to retire the Dot and buy that instead?

Yes, the 3rd gen is pretty weak, the 4th gen is apparently much better. If you want to spend around £50 then go for the bigger Echo as it's currently on sale at the moment.

You don’t think I can find a reasonable speaker for under £50?

The echo dot 4 gen is good but the larger echo is only £54 at the moment. I though the whole point was to still have the Alexa functionality.

Edit: I think I understand, you want a portable speaker you can connect to your Dot? Well then yes the Anker Soundcore is OK for your budget but that one linked is the basic model I think, you might want to get the Soundcore 2 which you can apply a 20% voucher code to: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Upgraded-SoundCore-Bluetooth-Waterproof/dp/B01MTB55WH

or the slightly more expensive Soundcore 3 but also with a £10 off voucher - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soundcore-Bluetooth-Diaphragm-Technology-Waterproof/dp/B08BCHKY52

    I don't think she/he does necessarily

Just to be clear, I want to improve the sound quality from the Dot by adding an external speaker.

Is the Soundcore 3 going to sound a lot better than the full size Echo? There's little difference in price.
