Yeah you’re right. Probably no point in following any building regulations really.

I'm glad you agre.. hang on, you are taking the mick, ain'tcha? :-(
Slinky could always conform with the regs, and then fit a wee radiator in that cupboard instead.
(Our airing cupboard has a zig-zag of exposed copper pipe to do this.)

Personally don’t like flexihoses on the ev’s. There also looks like a dead leg with a plastic stop end. Potential legionella issues

With less than 250 cases reported annually (and about half being contracted overseas), the risk of Legionella is an extremely small risk. You have a better chance of being hit by a number 13 bus or winning a big prize on the lottery.

Are you going to fit slatted shelves so's it airs thoroughly?
Anyhoo, once it's all up and running, and full of stored stuff, you'll soon find out how warm it'll be in there. The comments above are valid - in such a small closed cupboard, not much heat at all is required. See how it goes, and more lagging is easy to fit if wished, of course.
Seal off around any pipes going through the ceiling!

Yes we've got the old slats from before the tank was changed so we'll be putting those back in. Good point about sealing around the pipes.

Thanks for all the comments. The work is ongoing hence plastic bits which are only temporary, the whole house is being replumbed in copper as the old pipework was noisy (nails bent over the pipes where they ran across joists) and the boiler was ancient. The boiler is in a new location, the radiators are not yet installed or connected (brrr).

Will make sure he lags the pipes.

Talking of lagging, I seem to recall reading something somewhere about a change in regs this year regarding pipes coming through external walls needing extra insulation or something, does anybody recognise what I'm talking about as I've no idea where the source of the info came from, other than it'll be something I picked up from the font of all knowledge, which is MSE.

In a well insulated house with good quality windows (i.e. free from draughts), there is no real need to site radiators under the windows. It used to be, radiators were put under the windows so that the hot air rising would counter the cold air in front of the windows. If you have decent double/triple glazed windows, you don't get as much cold air in that area.
Hang some good quality thermal curtains, and site the radiators where you want them.

We've had new double glazing last year, the rads in the bedrooms will be going back under the windows as there's not really much unoccupied wall space elsewhere where they can go, plus the windows are the large 1960s style so they take up a lot of wall space where you can't put tall furniture in front so under the window makes sense. The downstairs ones we are playing around with locations and siting them on internal walls where we can.

This probably refers to the pressure relief pipe work which technically needs to be lagged to prevent risk of scalding I think if it discharges hot water outside.

Some building regs is a bit ott.
